Ok, I’ll bite. Find stats to support that position

Me drawing the conclusion that Elly strikeouts in 30% of his at bats based on the data that he strikeouts 30% of his at bats is cherry picking? Me suggesting that one of the things he needs to do to take that next step is to cut down on his k-rate, base on what league average and where those that are considered the stars are is cherry picking?

For one, he's on pace for 25 HR and 60 SB for a season. If you look at his first 30 games in the league, which are a big part of driving the hype, he hit .325 and had a pace for 22 HR and 86 SB.

He has more home runs over 110 mph than anyone except Ohtani. He broke the record for throw speed for an infielder.

We can arbitrarily take stats from a small sample all day long. My whole point is that is stupid to do. If you can't see the reason for the hype, it's just that you don't know baseball. If you want to look at the first 46 games of a 21 year old's career and draw sweeping conclusions, you REALLY don't know baseball. That's all I'm saying.

Do you actually think that is what you were doing? Just making a suggestion about how he could stand to lower his K-rate? LOL You weren't making any other conclusions about him? LOL

So you think you know what I'm thinking better than I do? Maybe you should stop over-thinking everything and stop injecting your opinions into other people's comments. As a lawyer, you should know better.

Sure, I was making other conclusions. Such as, you put yourself behind the 8 ball to having a high batting average when you fail to put the ball in play 30% of the time. I also draw the conclusion that a strike out rate that high is a combination of plate discipline, knowing the strike zone, and tracking pitches.

All things that can be improved on, and things he needs to do to take that next step.

Painful watching all his Strikeouts

at least he isn´t playing for the Yankees or he would have 4-5 per game frequently lol

I really like this kid, but this is really frustrating watching him K over and over again. I am glad I sold my bigger cards right after the cycle. I will buy them back in the offseason.

That big game a few days ago definitely helped him a bit. It bumped his average up about 25 points in the last 3+ weeks.

He's now 12 for 74 with 4 walks and 34 k's. That pushes his BA to .162 since July 9th.

Not exactly the same obviously, but Gunnar was ice cold for two months and has really turned it around. He’s young and has time to figure it out.

Gunnar is a more polished hitter, he can get it together..
Elly is much more raw, he might not

Only time will tell, for now we can enjoy watching his Insane Tops Plays 1-2 times a week on ESPN or multiple strikeouts everyday

He excels vs piticers with an ERA over 5. In the stroman/Steele starts he was 1-9 with 6k. Just throwing it out there

I’m so hobby smart.

I’m actively rooting against a 21-year old kid because it makes me feel better about my undiscovered talent for scouting baseball prospects even though I never played past Little League and haven’t smelled ballpark grass in 30 years.
