That was me I’m still in amazement!!!!! Been posting so much more on Twitter lately and forget to post here too. Yea I saw the shiny yellow, then the RC logo, then finally slow rolled and realized it was an AUTO! I would normally have got that on video but I absolutely did not see that coming. Positively the best pull of my life, and I’ve been on a heater lately. Also pulled a RED and green Tork US20 so far from 15 boxes opened. Absolutely loving this product! I’ve opened 13 boxes and haven’t hit a true rookie Julio, Witt or Pena. My best color is a Stott /75. POTY.

I try to keep up with this thread but I did not see it reported that a Greene orange auto is now listed. So Pena is the only redemption in the product.

And that’s exactly why we open wax - to pull cards that money, if you are a singles collector, can’t buy. People who resell their wax or sit on it will never be able to have that kind of unique life event/experience. Last edited by hermanotarjeta; 01-29-2023 at 11:34 AM. |

I sell wax from time to time so I can fund ripping and other purchases. I've never pulled a 1/1 but I agree pulling a monster is thrilling!

Besides, there is no worse hobby feeling than selling a box that has that monster pull in it. You had the box in your possession and bought it for cheap - and choked it away! LOL. Imagine if someone on these boards who got boxes cheap but wanted that Kwan super and ended up flipping that sealed box to another member and the dude pulled it and decided to keep it forever. The seller would be crushed!!!! Oh sure, he would say he would be happy for the box buyer, but you know deep inside he would HAtE it and probably quit the hobby, haha. What if the biggest Kwan collector in the world flipped 30 boxes for $3000 profit then bought the super with it? Knowing that if it ever surfaced he’d have the (free) $ ready when/if it surfaced?

Sometimes, there are cards that money cannot buy. They can only be pulled. Also, what if the biggest Kwan collector in the world has a good paying day job, he can work a week and buy the Kwan if it ever gets to market and not make some chicken excrement excuse that he is only able to buy singles with money he makes with flipping, for the purpose of flipping the Kwan down the line to the next “biggest Kwan collector in the world”. You love to use the word excuse instead of reason when explaining other people’s motivations for funding their hobby. You even embellish it with a nice term like chicken s#%^

Got my 2 cases in earlier this week and I was thinking of sitting on them for a little a bit. Curiosity got the better of me and I ripped one this morning. I'm glad that I did. Only small complaint is the centering on a lot of the base cards. Parallels were much better luckily.
Box 1 RC: Witt, Kwan, Pena, Melendez RD: Kirby Color: Jankowsi /75, Beaty /25 Box 2 RD: Julio, Stott, Gore, Ramos Color: Hudson /75, Brash RD /25 Box 3 RC: Greene, Gore, Donovan RD: Abrams, Suzuki, Arias, Melendez Color: Baz RD /75, McCarthy/Tully Rookie Combos /50 Box 4 RC: Suzuki, Stott RD: Witt, Pena Color: Manaea /75, Cardinals One Last Dance /50 Box 5 RC: Julio RD: Wander Color: Miller /75, Greinke /5 Box 6 RC: Arias RD: Greene, Lewis Color: Beaty /75, Elder /10 Box 7 RC: Ramos, Lewis, Lodolo Color" Smyly /75, Tellez /50, Torkelson Red Auto 5/5!! Box 8 RC: Torkelson, Melendez RD: Kwan Color: Engel /75, Ramos /50 Box 9: Color: Staumont /75, Mahle /25, Montero /50 Box 10: Suwinski /75, Estrada /50 ![]() I'm thinking of maybe sending it to PSA and then selling it on eBay when I get it back. But, I'm not sure what to value it at. What would everyone suggest? |

Even many collectors are confused, they think they are a collector, but really they are a flipper - they are hot shot investors who use cards as a medium to generate income. There’s NOTHING wrong with that. Just DON’T pretend to be a collector and end up flipping a card that someone so kindly sold to you for your “PC”, just so you could “fund your hobby.” Your hobby is using cards to generate income, not collecting to acquire your greatest treasure to secure forever and to have the largest bulge in your pants on the message boards. You’re level of self righteousness is bulging impressively. Why do you insist on being an arbiter of others confusion, intention and motivation? Who exactly are you to determine the level of one’s purity behind these transactions? If you don’t recognize and understand the reasons behind people selling one card to acquire another you’re either extremely ignorant or have the disposable income necessary to always buy any card you want with having to stoop to selling others. THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT- Just admit it. I’ve just cant understood the derision you hold for those who aren’t that well funded. Because they don’t make xx $ at their regular job do they not deserve to own the more expensive card? Is that it?

No one should be offended by any of my posts, unless one too closely identifies with the type of hobbyist I describe. And I will cheer against and root for failure against that type of hobbyist virtually 100% of the time. I don’t want anyone going broke or losing a ton of money. However I do want hobbyists to make wiser purchase decisions and avoid idiotic expenses with the INTENT of greed. Anything to keep costs down for collectors. And no, it’s not just poor people who are “forced to flip” (violins playing) There are wealthy people who are driven by the cash flow - that’s their hobby. Just as there are poor people who strictly collect. It’s purely the INTENT that distinguishes those people, NOT their socioeconomic status. Though it’s used as an excuse all the time. It's amazing that we collectors get to buy ridiculous amounts of new product and offset the cost of said product by selling off the hits and even the commons.
EV for any box, given the fun we get out of this pursuit, should naturally settle at .65-.8 per 1$, but some think the market equilibrium should be EV > $1 per $1 spent, or at least that for a product to be worth buying. Today's market environment won't allow that except for those who have backdoor access to product. As long as each person doing this understands and acts on their own motivations, no one should be shamed for the specifics of their motivations. I just love getting to open products like Sapphire, play the lotto a bit, play the odds at a small profit, play the odds of a big PC hit, and do it all for much less than MSRP thanks to the fluid marketplaces that exist for these little rectangles. 10 year old me sitting in my walk-in closet 'card shop' that no one ever visited, would be pretty amazed by what we all get to do today. |
