They're not trash they just have a qb that hasn't won anything and won't win anything.

I'd add the vikings to the brady suitor list. Brady gets you gold.

Does Tom play defense? Cause I'm pretty sure that's our biggest weakness this year. The offense isn't bad at all. The defense can't stop anything.

Brady wouldn't have pushed this team over the top in 2017 and he wouldn't have pushed it to a Super Bowl this year either. Too flawed for that. It's basically last year's team but instead of all the close game flips going against them the bounces happened to overwhelmingly go the right direction. It wasn't sustainable.

They were the only 1, 2, or 3 seed with negative differential. Just a 9 or 10 win team that luck happened to help to a record making them seem more powerful than they were.

EB brought his idiotic “burn” to this thread, too?

Cousin isn't the problem. You must just watch them play offense and not defense .

A burn so nice it had to be said unnecessarily twice.

I wonder which person helped him come up with it? Either a 5 year old or someone comparable to the dude from Slingblade.

EB, go eat some French fried pertaters!

Need a 2nd WR opposite JJ extremely bad. Knew long ago it was inevitable for an opposing D to throw 3 defenders to corral him and make someone else do damage. Thielen is a corpse and Cook is declining but will work better if the O-line is actually upgraded. As for the D and it’s stale or non-existent parts. Stop trading back in the draft. Several mid-round bodies is not depth when the results are not showing up. Hockenson can be useful (He looked way better at Iowa than Fant did) but Detroit traded him or a reason.

Who replaces Cousins? I can see some asking if you trade JJ for a big haul but replacing him is a myth retired players think is easy. Not all WR are the same. Some take years to develop or not at all. I see another myth the best receivers are above any matchups. Bshizz. Several other elite WR had games they went quiet. Legend Jerry Rice even had 40 yd games at the same age as JJ. Unreasonable to expect JJ to have 100 and a TD every week to will a win. Miracles are nice but shouldn’t be plan A.

Lots of holes and the inevitable loss.

I guess the reverse psychology didn't work this time. You always pick them to lose so you got your wish today partner. There's always 2023. Go ahead and start the Vikings 2023 thread.

DC should be jettisoned tomorrow. Can’t have one of the very worst Ds in the league and not make a change.

The team will be Cousins again next year. Try again in 2023 and if not it’s rebuild mode.

2023 will be without key Viking regulars however…

Kendricks, Cook, and Thielen are all gone barring massive pay cuts. Harrison Smith could be on that list also but I think he stays 1 more year. Defense needs an overhaul.

Almost inevitable that we will trade back at least 1 time from 28 or where ever we are at after picks from the Hockenson trade. Then we will go with a CB at 35-40 wherever we move back to

If you could make it work cap wise…. Trading 28 to the Cardinals for Hopkins should be something the team should seriously consider but the offers will probably be greater than that

Not sure about the high offers on Hopkins..1 year older, coming off a season where he was suspended, and he has a hefty contract. I could see the 28th pick and a mid rounder be enough. This team needs a defensive overhaul though

I’d stick with JJ and KJ. KJ is at that point where WRs used to start to figure it out. Get a third guy to replace Adam.

If Bijan is available I’d take him then flesh out the D with the rest of the draft. Cook is too inconsistent and Bijan is a stud. The D needs an influx of talent and a new scheme. Leave the Oline alone to see if they can gel.

Cousins is fine. People love to hate on him, and I get why, but he's fine. The defense was trash this year and pretty clearly the thing that held us back

D definitely needs to be the priority, but I do agree we should look into weapons on O as JJ is only going to be doubled more and more. I do like KJ a lot too and it feels like he's real close to taking the next step. Honestly those 2 plus Thielen could still be the answer, just with KJ moved up the chart and Thielen moved down

Agree 100% on everything except Thielen. Love the guy, but he's turning into a #3 real fast. While the offense is the least of my concern, it would be nice to see them pick up a true #2.

Defense was the reason they lost, not that final series...but can anyone think of a more "Vikings" way to lose a game than to throw for 4 yards on 4th and 8?

I was expecting us to go down for the score and miss the extra point

Gawd its so hard being a Vikings fan. Every year I start expecting them to be crap then they throw up the mirage that maybe, just maybe, they might do it this year.... Nope. Another crash and burn.

I was shocked at how nonchalant they were with clock management that last series. From 54 seconds all the way down to 33 seconds because they fiddled around in the huddle with 2 timeouts in their pocket.
Reminded me of McCarthy with my Cowboys who hasn't a clue when it comes to clock management.

Definitely a better season that I ever expected with a new regime. The last play makes me question Kirk even though I came around to him over the past two seasons. Just an all time bone head decision. Throw it to JJ or at the very least throw it past the sticks.

Also:
  • How quickly did Harrison Smith and Eric Kendricks get old and slow? Jeez.
  • There's maybe only 2-3 keepers on defense.
  • Why didn't they call timeouts before half to try to get the ball back for a FG to tie it up? Bizarre.
  • Did JJ make any comments about zero targets in the entire 4th quarter? That seemed dumb.

There are a few defenses that were loaded with big names that just continuously hemorrhaged points.

I knew the point differential thing was an indicator that they would stumble somewhere, but I didn't see Jones going off for 300 years passing and 80 yards rushing. He played a pretty flawless game, considering his skillset.

I honestly thought that the Giants would have trouble matching the offensive output of Minnesota but they are a tough, smart team.
