What's an SGC 9.5 or 10 sell for in comparison to a PSA 8 or 9?

If he resubs with PSA and gets a 10, which is the true grade, the 10 or the previous 8?

I thought PSA has tech now to find re-subs and they just give it the old grade? Essentially denying they ever get it wrong

Grading is a scam.

That’s the beauty of PSA, there is no true grade! I had a 2020 Topps Refractor Auto Yordan come back a PSA 7 (in a 9 card economy sub in which I got 2 9’s and rest 7’s and 8’s)… over the last 2 years I resubmitted every one and got 7/10’s and 2/9’s, including a 10 on the Yordan. Every card was bumped at least 1 grade. I felt like PSA basically stole $500 from me, yet I keep going back because that extra 10 pays for it all (or in this case 7 extra 10’s)

I did that with some Soto doubles I wanted to sell. First time my order was full
of 9's. Cracked out twelve (almost half of the 25 9's I got) and then received nine
PSA 10's. I'm going to do that with six more when grading fees drop again to
$8-$10 range. The only hiccup now is that some of these cards have become
not sure bet to bring a return even in a ten grade. My fault for waiting and
being lazy too.

When I saw the title of this thread I was hoping PSA was in financial trouble.

I see what I was looking at on the 2 Julios - they don’t sit the same way / aren’t ‘snugged’ in the holder the same / each aren’t photographed from same 90 deg angle. Then the plastic ridge makes the 10 look a little skinny on the right side. Viewing on mobile phone pic doesn’t help sort that out, at all.

Did you turn down the "I can make this a 10 for you if you pay another fee?"

If you resubmit your 8s. Should you not also resubmit any 10s you think are 9s and get those corrected also?

It goes both ways. So on resubs we should focus on trying to get both directions corrected even if not always to our benefit. My opinion.

Default PSA woes

I do still believe there is grader variance, can’t prove it. I also think they are way more consistent than they were 6 months ago.

If you’re submitting a lot of cards it evens out over time, personally I submit multiple smaller submissions vs one monster, but that’s just me being risk averse.

As i said, I do think they are more consistent now than they were 6 months ago. My last submission was 13/14 gem, and I only submitted cards that I thought were gem, one tweener and it got a 9, probably as deserved. I will say I have stopped sending in the borderline cards for the most part as they generally speaking don’t get through, at least for me, which is as it should be i guess. I just want to know the standard so i can decide what to send, and it seems to be smoothing out. Now we’ll see what happens with the cards i have in qa1 lol.

If these were all 2021-2022 cards I bet they would of all gemmed.

I don’t disagree. I don’t send older stuff, but anecdotally they seem tough on that.

Spent sometime this morning comparing the two 10s I kept from this order to a few of the Julio 8’s under my TomLov, and frankly unless there’s a glaring surface or side issue missed, I’m stumped.

the 4 cards that I re-inspected all have the exact same corner integrity/sharpness with 0 obvious signs of wear on the sides of the cards as well.

Will be cracking the remainder of 8's and just seeing if there's something surface wise that could/would warrant the grade. So far, just disappointed that it doesn't appear to be anything but population control. Had another bulk pop last night with tier 2 rookies that went through same process, Pena, Tork, Miranda, and Abram's, way higher gem rate than the tier 1 submission.

#Tin Foil hat on.

I guess new owner shaved the corner and subbed to PSA. You can find my post in the Devers thread telling folks to stay away from the PSA10 when it surfaced on eBay for sale.

It’s the ‘18 red sapphire #8/10

You should know by now it only matters what grade is listed on the subject label!

The PSA 9 Witt Gold is OC T/B and looks to have slight wear on the bottom right corner from this picture but that could be the angle.

Scratch a little piece of the surface off and then submit under the name "Nat Turner." Should do the trick.
