However you want to look at it. The breaking game will only grow. Instead of having a large base of small breakers, you can have a smaller footprint of larger “vetted” rooms putting out multiple simultaneous break streams.

I think it would probably be a mistake to not allow for expansion. Limiting the reach to new potential customer bases would probably be antithetical to their plans to 10x the hobby.

Great News! As a Wax Collector, I’d like to see a breaker on every street corner ( may not pay as well as dealing dope ….. but you’d likely live longer )

When the market cools off Fanatics is going to wish that they sold to everybody versus their price manipulation strategy.

Genuinely curious here. How does “a break” “for one guy” - even …. exist? Is our root desire for 15 seconds of Internet fame now so strong that someone would pay someone else to film the opening of a box for them, just them, and nobody else? So if there was a Hit! We Hit IT! there is now independent video confirmation to throw up on (intended) all the brag boards we surround ourselves with?

I feel like I have lost a conceptual element, somewhere. Why ask why, drink Bud Dry.

Yea I don’t get it at all but these people grow up on the internet now and maybe they have frens all over that throw in on a break together or something so they can all vibe in the chat bro and virtual fist bump I guess.

I don’t really see the reason for someones chubby little fangers touching my ballcards but hey, to each his own!

I question the sustainability of group breaking. It obviously has a significant place in the hobby, but I wonder if its popularity will dimish as time goes on. It spiked in popularity during the pandemic when people had more disposable cash and extra time to dabble in extra activities. But now we're in a post-pandemic market and a recession will test the viability of business models that were created and adjusted during the last few years.

I can't see breaking really going away anytime soon.

That said, I think current economic issues and challenges has an impact on breaking, but not as much as consumer wax purchases. If anything, it'll continue shifting toward higher volume breaker sales - maybe even changing the standard consumer acquisition dynamic to breaks instead of wax for the enthusiast market, at least. Retail will likely always have some presence, albeit diminished due to increasing prices.

Breaking has offered, and still offers, collectors an economical way to participate in case purchases that they could not do individually.

Even in 2015 and 2016, when I bought 2015 Bowman Draft hobby cases for around $600-650 I was still participating in breaks for better chances at my targets.

Today, I haven't bought a case since 2018 because of rising case prices. I'd love to say I'm saving money but realistically I'm probably spending about the same money, just now getting less quantity and variety doing higher risk team/player breaks.

I hope you're right so we can have reasonable hobby prices again but the gamification of the hobby has definitely created a following and these crazy prices may be here to stay.

A deep and prolonged recession will for sure cause some turbulence for Fanatics

Can't put the genie back in the bottle.

Sign of the times, and not the rad 90s auto set.
