Default Custom/Homemade Rickey Henderson cards with Refractors

Just wanted to share some fun art cards I made for myself.

I had some fun making a custom Michael Jordan insert card for my friend, and while I was at it, I wanted to make some custom fun Rickey Henderson cards for myself as well.

This series is called the "Greatest" series as a three-card 1990's basketball insert design style, this time with my favorite player, Rickey Henderson. (These cards as thick and two-sided and fit perfectly in a 75pt one touch holder.)

Here are the base cards:

Here is a sample back:

Here's a Mizuno Green parallel version:

Front:

Back:

Making the base cards was fun, but I've seen homemade custom Atomic refractors and "cracked ice" style holographic refactors so I wanted to make some for fun as well.

Here's a Silver, Gold, and "Cracked Ice" atomic refractor versions of the cards:

The refractors are always hard to photograph and retain that holographic look in a still photo, but they really catch the light and came out really well.

It was a really fun project. Just wanted to share.

They’re great!

How’d you print them? Inkjet on card or photo paper etc?

For the base cards, these were printed on an inkjet with photo paper.

For the refractors, these were printed with a color laser printer on an acetate overlay on top of holographic material.

Good work OP. You didn't overthink the designs and show some nice design touch.

I assume you've discovered white laser toner. It's awesome and makes things so much easier.

Thanks so much.

I honestly don't know about white laser toner. I could see where that would definitely make things much easier. Great idea and I'll look into it, thanks!

Made another custom Rickey card for fun last night. This was a more modern take off of the 1983 "Speed & Power" Fleer card with Rickey Henderson and Reggie Jackson.

Here's the front/back.

Got on a custom card kick this weekend, and designed a 9 card series of Rickey Henderson cards from his days at a San Diego Surf Dawg.

These cards are all based on some of my favorite designs by Topps, and since the Topps logo is imperative to pull off this design effect, I wanted to ensure no one thought these are real/counterfeit cards, so I made these as "Tacos" brand cards. LOL

Added my own "Tacos" logo to appear on all cards, just to show these are not real and custom art cards.

Anyway, hope you guys like these custom card designs.

Created a nice little custom three (9?) card Rickey series today based off of the 1980-81 Topps "tear-off" basketball design. This is every MLB team Rickey played for. Front/back pics. 🙂
