$10,000 bucks for a player that's played 167 minutes of Professional Football.

Crikey.

Of course I don’t expect it to sell for that. Just put a big number on it and see what offers roll in.

Does Malik's switch do anything? Isn't Pulisic ahead of him

Hard to say. He can play as a striker, wing or attacking mid. I think the idea is he gets some run up top next month while Pepi gets a rest.

Got it. Just sold off a bunch of singles I had on ebay so the interest is definitely there

He seems like a solid talent and I'm happy to get him. But he's also been playing in the German 4th division and turns 20 this month. We USMNT fans have been through the "unreasonable expectations" cycle many, many times.

It's pretty funny that this kid has played less than 3 games of 1st team football and you're already trying to fit him in the USNMT starting Xi ..

To be fair he is somewhat rated at Bayern but there's quite a logjam there and I think he's maybe at a stage he gets sent out on loan next season. He needs to adapt to the pace and physicality of top tier football. I'm not sure striker will end up being his natural position, but either way it would be madness for the US to throw him straight in at the deep end.

Nice first half performance for the US! Aaronson looks fantastic playing through the middle. Nice to have that option behind mckennie adams musah, esp since the World Cup always requires a decent amount of rotation. A few breakdowns but playing well in genera- bright and attacking.

Here come
CCV
Scally
Wright

Let’s go!

Positive overall performance last night, even if the scoreline was a bit flattering. Good to see some new faces run out and do mostly well, and to see Mckennie get some minutes, even if he mostly anonymous.

Two highlights from Pulisic: the first touch on the Aaronson goal, my god, and then giving the pk to Haji Wright, recognizing his long path from the YNT back to the senior team, that was pretty cool.

Pulisic sounds like he wants to go play for Croatia instead

the first reply..

"It's a friendly against a country most people had to google"

oh America.

Pulisic has been spoilt playing in the UK and Germany. He is right though, US support is a bit cheesy. "I Believe That We Will Win" is cringe too.

Idk what the norm is in Europe, but looking at ticket prices, it's essentially an $100 get-in price. That seems high for a friendly. They're probably not getting a lot of the true USMNT fans at that price, especially with the state of the economy.

Tickets started at $60 last night.

Which is pretty much the same for England matches. (£45)

With a small fire started in the UEFA Champions League thread, thought I'd bring the #9 debate in here.

I think we bring Ferreira, Wright, and Pepi. And that's mostly because I think Ferreira starts and provides better press support and hold up play... OR we scrap the whole thing and let Weah or someone else play that role and essentially punt and get another one of our wingers on the field. Then rely on Weah, Pulisic, aaronson, Reyna, Musah, Mckennie, etc... to make the runs behind and act (at times) like the striker and try to occupy those CBs.

I don't think Pefok gets on the flight. I don't think he's gotten a total fair shot, but up until now needing a "target" 9 doesn't seem to be the way we will win... and I feel like that's more of Pefok's game. GGGGGG is going to rely on a lot of press and capitalize on mistakes.

Agree on Ferreira. His finishing may not be there, but he has still been effective with his press and, especially, his holdup play.

On a separate note, don't think we will see Joe Scally get a runout again for quite some time.

What a game for Ferreira. Scored 4 but could've scored 8. Guess that might not be a good thing as I read about his finishing lol.

Very happy for him, but also it was a garbage opponent. Can’t get much real info against a team like that. If nothing else, it’s a confidence boost for him.

I get that the quality was a bit lacking in the opponent… but it’s a team we should absolutely blow off the pitch and we don’t always accomplish that. I’ll take any minor W when I can when it comes to trying to build some confidence in a 9.

Finishing is still finishing, irrespective of who the opponent is.

Obviously, he doesn't get all those chances against a stronger opponent, but he should still get credit for finishing them, especially given that none of them were easy chances.

Can't see them bringing Pepi and Ferreira [and Wright] so probably the latter 2 and use a winger up there instead.

What are you talking about? Did you watch the game? Might as well have been a training match. 2nd goal was a breakaway 1v1 vs the keeper, and the 4th was an absolute tap in. They don’t get much easier. 1st goal was tidy and 3rd I thought was his best, although it was a training exercise since there were no defenders bothering to close him down. Go watch the goals again.

Credit where it is due for 4 goals - that’s good news regardless if the opponent. But let’s try and be realistic and not get carried away. This was a far cry from world class defending. I’ve enjoyed watching Ferreira play and his movement helps the team build up well. I hope that game boosts his confidence - he may be our best option at number 9 right now. But he has shown against top opponents that his finishing is still raw and we are a long way from having a nailed on number 9.

This field in El Salvador looks like they just finished a week of horse racing on it.
