It's an alternate league instead of guys going the NCAA route. It has guys as young as 16 I believe.

With the advent of the name image likeness rules, is a separate league even really necessary? What's there to learn? You dribble out the clock and then shoot a 3 and let your guy pass you on the way back so he can get a layup.

Yes, but for lower tier high school players who cannot get recruited to do a one-and-done in college or who are not good enough to go to one of the international pro leagues until they are eligible for the NBA (like the younger Ball brothers did).

I suppose OTE would also be a destination for players who have been kicked out of school or have other issues that would force them to take a different path to the NBA. But these are not players that have any real chance at the NBA outside of a 16 year old that suddenly grows from a 6 footer to a 7 footer.

Plus I think the NBA G League started a similar program and so OTE would be like single A to the G League's AAA if you want to use a baseball analogy.

What about Jean Montero? Some mock drafts have him going top 15 in this year's draft.

Im not sure this is an accurate reflection of the league.
This provides them a chance for a nice income while still in high school, which is something you can’t really do in a traditional school while being recruited.
The needs of these players families vary greatly and I don’t think that’s fair at all to categorize these players as troublemakers or not talented enough.

He's an international player who already turned pro. So yeah- that could be a category of players who might have a better path from OTE to NBA.

It's a bummer they are stickers. The Kelenic Chrome Auto will carry a premium over Sapphire, I imagine.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking - more limited. But I don't know.
