Nice card. As a Cobb (and presumably vintage collector) how do you view Ohtani's collectability?

People still spending money like water! That said, not where I would spend 100K if dropping it on Ohtani..

Thanks much. Definitely the biggest sale I've had to date. Hope it goes 10x for the buyer.

Got plenty of good stuff remaining as I start to sell off some of the nicest cards in the hobby to fund my kids' college expenses. Check it out all:

https://www.instagram.com/cardmarkets/
http://www.ebay.com/sch/cardmarkets/m.html

Or ask if you're looking for something specific. I've been a long time collector of all things Topps Chrome or Bowman Chrome, especially the colored refractors and autos.

Cheers all!

I have one question though:
It seems after buying your 2 cards for $100k,
your ebay buyer [highstreetcollectibles] is already trying to sell the cards separately on ebay (red /10 for $125k obo, and blue for $35k obo);
Did the buyer mention any intention of flipping the cards?

No, but that's entirely their prerogative - I don't sell with strings attached, as I imagine most folks can relate to. Honestly, I hope he gets his price and that I've left enough on the table that it's a win-win for everyone. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him get it. We all know where the market has been going, and seemingly crazy stuff happens every day (not that my opinion should be the definitive mark for what's rational or what's crazy - to each his/her own).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I hope the buyer does good as well.
Congratulations again on the sale!

Great attitude. I don't understand people who obsess over what happens to their former belongings... who's got the time or mental bandwidth for that?

Here are my latest pick ups. Been concentrating on variations.
(Refractor, glossy, pattern 4)
(Sky blue, magma diffractor, rainbow foil, no back plate)

This happened to me a lot last season and I saw buyers selling for 3x what I sold to them for and also some having to take a loss after things cooled down in September. I agree with your mentality that you already made yours and good for them if they can make a few more bucks out of it. Congrats on the monster sale!

Just received this one in the mail! What is the consensus of the chrome /999 vs the purple refractor in terms of print run and value?

Just trying to keep this thread on the front page. Would like to see everyone's recent pick ups and thoughts!

Saw the following sold item (not mine). Can anyone confirm the print run of 299? Seems likely this is wrong (ie not a SSP?)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/13390674383...p2047675.l2557

Edit: I exchanged some messages with the seller. The print run is not 299!!! Anyone know the real print run?

This is one of those cards where I'm kicking myself for not picking up more when they were routinely selling for $100/each. Paid 4x for the last one but it was so pretty and I feel like the pitching variation has a lot more meaning after his progress last season.

My life isn't the same without Ohtani playing!

Relocated to SoCal from SEA? Whereabouts? I'm a SoCal native.

Ohh, the second year batting variation is a good one too. I'm waiting on the '21 signing autographs SSP to come down before biting. Fun player to PC for sure .

I went to college in socal so it was always my endgame to come back. I moved to North OC (Brea) just a few freeway exits from Angel Stadium! Mr. Ohtani was generous and paid for all my moving costs

That's awesome. I worked in Brea for awhile and my best friend at the time went to Fullerton back in the day and I grew up a little further up the 57 @ the 210. Covina-Glendora up through moving to SA in 2008.

We should organize a Shohei-start meet-up. I come back to our offices in LA 4-6-8 times a year and could easily stay a day or two.
