Default eBay buyer threatening negative feedback because signature confirmation requirement

Honestly, what is going on in this world?

I messaged a buyer saying that signature confirmation was required because the purchase was for more than $200. The guy asked me to ship it to his office after the package was already in the mail.

I told him how USPS would handle such a situation (leave note at door, try to redeliver, and that he could pick it up at the post office).

The buyer responded that he was annoyed and would leave negative feedback and return the card. He requested that I cancel the transaction. I sent him his money back immediately and am already working with USPS to get my card back.

What the f*** man.

He just left me negative feedback and it isn't pretty. Do I have an option here to get the feedback redacted?

Ebay's/Paypal signature confirmation threshold is $750.

Not sure why you are spending the extra money to get a signature when it is not necessary.

I would not have refunded anything until I had the card back in hand. What if the postal service can't get it returned to you? Then the buyer gets the card and his money.

You should be able to contact EBay and get that feedback removed.

I know this ... buyers aren't allowed to ask you to ship to an address different than the one on their eBay profile ...

I'm guessing a call to eBay will take care of this.

Ebay should remove it as they have the shipping records.

It's my personal preference after being burned before. The postal service is right next to my house and I know the guy who picks up my apartment drop box. I am not worried.

I believe sig confirmation is for anything over $750. But good on you for adding that extra layer of protection on the card, but seems like its a problem for the buyer. Was the address he gave you the exact one in ebay? Never ship to any other address other than the one ebay says.

I would not have refunded until I got my card back. If he never got the card after failed deliveries, it would have been shipped back to you anyways. And I will say again, never refund till you get your card back.

Also, if the buyer requests to cancel after you shipped and card is in transit...just pay the $15 for a package intercept. Had a buyer claim their account was hacked and ebay refunded them the money and allowed me to keep my money as well....but I paid for that intercept because I wasnt gonna let the buyer get a card for free.

Also, call ebay, they may reverse the feedback. But its on a case by case basis.

What is the buyer's ebay id? You should never refund until you have the item in-hand, so next time don't do that.

Call ebay and they will likely remove the negative. Also, block the pos and let us know said pos's ebay id

USPS confirmed that my postman will knock on my door and return the card when he comes to my apartment. It wasn't picked up yet so it's literally downstairs in the hallway mailbox pickup still.

Yeah, lesson learned there. I panicked like a doofus. I'll have the card back by lunchtime, confirmed it with my post office.

How did you have the shipping listed on the card?

Standard shipping, no returns. Which is indeed my mistake. I own that. I forgot this time around to be thorough. I have never had a problem with this before on eBay, reddit, Facebook, or Blowout. The threats in the messages are pretty wild though. I refunded as soon as he said he wanted his money back and he would return the card anyways. He then sent 10-15 more messages afterwards trying to get me to send the card still and let it play out. I don't have time for that.

Your first mistake was cancelling the transaction while the card was in the mail. Let him open a return and send the card back. They would not be allowed to leave you feedback at that point. Also, if someone threatens negative feedback it means no matter what you can get it removed.

I can understand why he'd be frustrated about signature confirmation that wasn't disclosed because he may not be home to sign for it. He reacted like a tool bag though. I hope you get the negative feedback removed, that's not a fair strike against somebody.

At what level do you guys typically require signature confirmation?

I require it for any shipment over $200 (but always disclose it in my listings) because my insurance policy requires it (Collect Insure).

This is where he initially threatens negative feedback, tells me he will return the card, and then tells me to cancel the transaction. Everything from there is a mess and there’s too much to sift through

Here he is trying to get me to just ship the card. I told him I did but then he told me to cancel and threatened feedback. His response was right before negative feedback posted

This is pretty deep into the messages. He is trying to walk back his cancel claim after he’s been refunded and trying to get me to change addresses. His final message is after the feedback was posted. A final “enjoy a-hole”

Thats probably because the guy has had a number of accounts over the years. Once a scammer, always a scammer.

Not a good look for him when he’s left negative feedback 1 out of every 4 times.
