Agreed. And apparently when Wax was first released years ago it was a few dollars and then fell off the cliff. Not sure why there was a big dip running up to release of Topps NFTs. From what I gather, it was across the board with crypto due to talks of increased regulation.

from what I recall hearing/reading all of the korean whales used topps release to drive up price and unloaded piles and piles of wax. Obv btc crashing same time didn't help

You know that all depends on what topps does going forward. If they base pack prices exclusively on wax. Then everything goes up dollar wise if wax goes up.

They took a big dip in the April 20s for sure though, which plausibly explains why WAX was so low. I think the other explanation about whales is also plausible, and certainly the two are not mutually exclusive.

Probably 3Kish? Highest sale was 5K or so, but not much is moving at last week's crazy prices. I have the /76 trout and have no plans on selling any time soon.

No. The common thinking is that they were just used to do a stress test on the system and are just goofy little collectibles. A few folks are speculating on them being ingredients for future crafting events, but there is no real reason to think so. Who knows though? I'd imagine Topps will be more focused on their paid releases for crafting than the random coin giveaway, but I am not running the show. Regardless, people will speculate on anything and maybe there is some collectability based on being an early issue, so there is some value to them currently.

I think they’re just for fun and memes. Some people on the discord are gobbling them up though.

Far as speculation, people are hoping topps makes them trade-able for something down the line. I think this is unlikely, especially as more of them end up in fewer wallets, they’d just be rewarding the wood whales lol.

They do have utility, so they could be used for something fun down the line, wether or not it’s topps doing it.

You know, Topps/Upper Deck/any card company could really create a frenzy if they announce some kind of redemption for old base cards.

Imagine: "Trade in 100 1986 base cards and get an NFT pack of 1986 Retro Topps!"
