Also got a Canseco A/P today. Wonder if the bots know there are two different Taylor artists. Maybe on Matt vs. Lauren days there will be more success. Probably not how that works but happy to get one and for the others who did as well.

Got my Efdot Michael Jack Schmidt in today. No foil or one-of-one, but I'm glad that these have been arriving so quickly. Hopefully Topps can keep up the current pacing on shipping throughout the project

OK to counterbalance all the negativity- I think the Bronson Mattingly is kind of funny. The pic is funny, the crappiness of the photoshopping is kind of funny- and I think that Bronson knows it. The winking Donnie on his IG and the ridiculous bio on his card back- I can't tell if he just doesn't care or this is part of a schtick. It'd be pretty unfortunate if he really was just doing this as a quick cash grab since I bet there are some artists out there that would gladly participate and take it seriously. But giving him the benefit of the doubt- maybe he was in on it? Whether he's laughing at us or with us is a different question all together

We dropped a few go back a thousand pages. There was actually a Blowout 2020 with Blake Jamieson redoing McGwire. The leader of this project disappeared and his friend won't tell us where he went.

Almost every Blowout forum creation for Willie Mays Hayes' Project 2020 idea was better than that Mattingly. And it wasn't even close.

It was a good day for P70. A lot of people got something to be happy about on the boards- a nice Ernie Banks card, some wins over the bots, and another card to dump on (which will end up with an 800 print run as a result)

As others mentioned, Matt Taylor had a sneaky good run last year.

Despite having the 2nd lowest overall PR (not ideal for either his or Topps’ best interest), his Henderson was flat out amazing right out of the gate, so expectations were high. Despite a big step back with his next few (Jeter, Griffey, Thomas IMO), he rebounded nicely with that cool film noir-ish vibe on the Ripken and classic 50’s Route 66/Welcome to Vegas lettering on the Jackie and Willie. The Koufax also oozed style with what I’d call 30’s theatre marquee lettering.

Top it off with that Lonely Island “And I’m Mark” McGwire, the brilliant holofoil-yet-not-a-foil-at-all Ichiro, and the complimentary Mets Ryan/Gooden...you have a really solid and under appreciated set.

He’s picking up right where he left off with Canseco, so hopefully he garners more attention in round 2.

If I were to do a card, it would be a riff of Phil Rizzuto movie poster style called bridge over the river hudson. Phil was legendary for leaving the broadcast booth early to beat the traffic back home.

Not really. I was on the fence with him before the first drop, but I'm not feeling the robot bear mascot. Besides that, I can't envision wanting 20 cards in this style anyway...

His Ted and Ichiro were really nice as well. His Thomas was unfortunate; one of my least favorite cards in the entire set. Today's Jose it going to look awesome with the McGwire.

Agree 100% with almost this entire post. Did not collect his set in P2020, but the print at the end of this one makes his set even more tempting for me in P70. His weakest cards from P2020 were the ones you mentioned. And were all early in the set.

The photo he chose was excellent. I agree with your general comment, but that is truly an awful photoshop job, as zonk has pointed out, he SHOULD have just told his idea to a craigslist gig photoshop user and sat back, smoked something funky, and dictated the exact placement of each Don.

The lack of anything Detroit is expected from Topps at this point but it would have been cool to see Dave Santia involved in P70. If you’re not familiar with him he’s worth a look on YouTube. He’s a Detroit area speed painter. Probably the best shot of getting Sweet Lou or the likes on a card.
