I'm all for justifiable criticism of the Dem Party, as long as it's counterbalanced with assessment of the GOP.

I'm not a drum beater for the Dem Establishment as much as I see the GOP has been falling terribly behind in addressing social issues in recent decades.
It sets a very low bar for the Dems to jump over.

Your bottom assessment has truth to it, but still doesn't dismiss my point.
Can Jerrold go first?

The fact you claim I'm dismissing black Americans views and opinions (redundancy there by the way) yet black Americans have voted Democrat for decades and still claim to be treated poorly is unbelievable. I would suggest democrats have had black Americans in their hip pockets for decades and black Americans don't really have much to show for it.
In fact I would go as far to say that black lives don't matter to democrats as much as black votes do.
Anyways I have an idea for your next research project.
You could write about debate tactics and mastering the art of misdirection. Heck, you wouldn't need any help from anyone here as you're an expert at it. You could even call it The Master of Misdirection.

I'm sure, not unlike you, I tend to group people together. In my post I should have clarified Democratic party rather than just say Democrats.
The same applies to Republicans and the Republican party when it comes to social issues.
I have many conservative friends and I can't think of one of them that has a problem with gay people.
Now with that said, I look at the Democratic party and how they deal with gay people as the same way they treat black Americans. They're more concerned with identity politics and securing the votes of the guy community than they are seeing to it that they are treated equal.
Now I do have my idiosyncrasies. I'm not a big fan of gays who are extremely flamboyant, but I'm also not a fan of straight guys who act all tough and bullish, or a person who pushes their religion onto me, or last but not least, cough cough, people who think they're smarter than everybody else.
I think we'd all be better off judging people on an individual basis rather than lumping people into groups.

Kamala Harris.

What an amazing mistake.

The VP debates should be interesting. I have no true feelings about the pick, better than Warren in my view though.

We live in the weirdest timeline.

Fact: Kamala Harris is more authoritarian and "law and order" than Biden, Trump, Pence, Cruz, Sanders, Clinton, Warren, or virtually any other major political candidate.

Critique your own party. And feel free to tell me why Dems aren't properly representing black people in comparison to Republicans?

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tan...-diverse-ever/

"In the full 116th Congress, the overwhelming majority of racial and ethnic nonwhite members are Democrats (90%), while just 10% are Republicans."

"For example, 12% of House members are black, about equal to the share of Americans who are black"

https://fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/R45583.pdf

"There are a record 56 African American Members (10.4% of the total membership) in the 116th Congress, 4 more than at the beginning of the 115th Congress.
Fifty-three serve in the House,
including two Delegates, and three serve in the Senate. This number includes one Representative,
as well as one Senator, who are of African American and Asian ancestry, and one Representative
who is of African American and Hispanic ancestry. In this report, each of these three Members is
counted as belonging to two ethnic groups.
Fifty-two of the African American House Members, including two Delegates, are Democrats, and one is a Republican."

"Will Hurd, the only black House Republican, now sixth GOP recent retirement"

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/pol...-over-n1038496

"Hurd was notably one of only four Republicans in the House to vote in favor of a House resolution last month that condemned racists comments made by President Donald Trump about four Democratic congresswomen of color."

In summary, we have 53 Black House members in the U.S.
52 of Black House members are Democrats.
The 1 Black Republican House member is resigning and thinks Trump is racist.

Also, do you think all people are of equal intellect? Serious question.

I'm not a democrat, but I wish Biden wouldn't have announced long ago that he was picking a female. That tells me that they made a determination to not necessarily pick the best running mate, rather pick a novelty, for lack of a better term, and i'm not meaning any disrespect by that. I would think had they not announced that long ago, and they simply chose her as the running mate, we would all believe that they vetted all possible candidates and she was the best option. Should be an interesting next few months, cant wait to hear the debates of both the Pres and VP candidates.

It's not discrimination / racism / bigotry if you're a democrat. Those are only bad traits if you're republican.

Predictable pick by Biden but strategically the right decision IMO.

It shouldn't based on her record/ views, but people will see a black female and think she cares.

I think I'll just let the current debate surrounding our posts at the moment speak for themselves.
Be it either party, I hate identity politics.

Most VP picks are to try and reach a specific demographic of voter. Harris is no different.
