Default 2020 philosophy

my completely misguided philosophy was only buying cards i thought looked cool. I should have pulled a costanza and done the opposite.

Gary V is one event. Which is the other big event?

I actually think most of the people in this thread are the same as you. Because a lot of us are collectors, and are buying because we like the cards. The point at which the "flipping hypotheticals" started was when the first card hit a 1000% ROI.

That's a great card. That's Blake's lowest print run card. Once his Trout drops, everyone is going to scramble to get his Mattingly. The Trout print run is gonna make the Mattingly seem SSSP

What if the big news is that Project 2020 has gotten so huge that Card #100 is a Blake Jamieson by Mike Trout?

I still firmly believe these low PR's, under 10-12k, especially under 6-7k, will be sought after, I'm actually kind of glad some are clearing out and lowering prices....I totally get why as well and not upset as they are making 10-20x what they paid for the card....would never ever call that a dumb move....

All of this print run speculation and Gary Vee talk makes me think of The time when Mortimer and Randolph Duke attempted to corner the market on Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice futures.

Where are Billy Ray Valentine and Louis Winthorpe III when we need them?

Re: Topps Fire

Topps told Beck not to go on Blowout because they would make him cry.

And he went on Blowout and there were a bunch of faceless people saying this is sh**.

I dont see him pimping the buy on Topps for $20, wait 6 weeks and then flip. Thats not his thing.

Edit: But who actually knows!
This is what I expect too. He will promote some of more affordable lower PR cards and promote the product in general. He probably won’t say buy all the new releases but just his backing the project in general will raise prices

I saw Blake show a box full of unnumbered, back marker Donnie Baseballs.

Is he keeping track of how many hes signed?

I gotta think that unaltered/signed PR has got to be well below 2k at this point.

Onion futures trading is now illegal on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Forget all the talk about print runs, how awesome is it that multiple artists are posting here.

Okay, Project 2020 prices have been dropping all morning, which means that everybody is waiting for it to hit rock bottom, so they can buy low. Which means that the people who own the Project 2020 cards are saying, "Hey, we're losing all our damn money, and Christmas is around the corner, and I ain't gonna have no money to buy my son the G.I. Joe with the kung-fu grip! And my wife ain't gonna f... my wife ain't gonna make love to me if I got no money!" So they're panicking right now, they're screaming "SELL! SELL!" to get out before the price keeps dropping. They're panicking out there right now, I can feel it.

It is awesome. But also too bad that all the conversation about their work and the project has been completely drowned out by the hype culture.

From your listings, it looks like you have been selling from the time you got them in hand for the most part. You appear to like to play things safe, and that is fine. But looking back, you should able to see that your method has cost you a ton of money. Maybe you should go against your instinct this time. That way you don't have to sell another Ermsy Trout for a fraction of what it will be worth. You have cost yourself a whole lot of money by playing it safe up to this point. Profits are profits though, so congrats!

A Thiele Trout just sold for 200 this morning. I still don’t get why people don’t like that card. Glad I have 6 incoming today that I bought for 45 bucks last week.

Because sadly it takes perceived value to make people appreciate art. People didn’t like Tyson Beck’s work in Fire because they perceived Fire to be a lesser brand.

There has been thousands of cool art-like insert cards over the years and a ton of cool 1/1 hand drawn sketches. But only now that Project has become a money making phenomenon has the art appreciators come out in droves.

Two sellers on BO to shoutout real quick:

ebmisfit: Sold me a Trout Ermsy and Mattingly Blake on Sunday. They proceeded to double in price. Received today via USPS priority. Go buy from him.

1977 cloth: Bought a Thomas Baller before they tripled in price. He honored the sale and received today. He's in the B/S/T thread pretty often so just know hes good to deal with

Difficult to define, as you can just sell one at $250. We can put it to the group here to see if that is right or we can say there need to be 3 ebay sales of $250 or more to define it. This is just fun, because if they are $250 I am great with it and don't mind losing one to you.

We also don't have to bet. I am not calling you out on your prediction. I hope you are right.
I agree it may be hard to judge the winner if sales are $245, $255, $240, and $260. My previous won wager was for a print run which is defined. I said a week, so by next Thursday at noon. 3 Baller Trout's have to have sold for $250 or more within that time frame. That work? I'm game if you are. Also fine if you want to hold off and just make it a pride bet. I don't mind either way.
