Looks like this is now coming out November 6? Which could also delay TCU.

I've been waiting for the checklist as well. What are the odds it gets pushed back again?

Topps has been releasing checklists only a few days before on pretty much all their releases, so I would suspect this continues. I think i remember them stating that would become common practice moving forward when it comes to checklist posting. I doubt anything surfaces until the week of scheduled release.

So - dude on eBay has presold 950+ blasters of this for $19.97 with free shipping already. What are the odds that we think those are going to actually ship?

Ordered multiple pre sells from this seller in the past and they have always shipped within the week of the release date. Think someone had some info on him in another thread, but he definitely has a relationship with Topps as a distributor or something. Stadium Club blasters he sold close to a 1000 if I’m not mistaken and I got mine no issue.

Catching up on this thread has pushed me into more 2020 TC and sapphire singles.
Does Topps actually NEED to do anything here to fill out the update set? Not much incentive with the way things are currently selling out |

It's a common misconception. Topps makes the distributors take their products. All of it. Hot product or dud product doesn't directly change their bottom line. It indirectly changes it based on future demand and orders. |

Do we have any updates yet? Or is this going to be a dumpster fire?

Update is my favorite set every year. Aside from The Top 30 prospect set, a potential Arozarena base Rays rookie and the Rookie Debuts I just don't have much to get excited about. I'll be buying 2019 Update boxes/cases and 2020 Sapphire with my Update budget.

Seriously? No checklist yet?
Ugh. I did see that Topps delayed the release of three other sets, but not Update, so maybe there is still hope that everything is still on track. |

I believe we’ll see it a couple days before release, if that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welp, I bit the bullet and claimed my pre-orders of hobby at $1300 a pop. I see it's selling now for $1450 - $1500 a case, so at least I've got that.
I'm hoping against hope that maybe they stuck some SP flagship RCs in there like they did with Vlad in 2019 Series 2. It would be unusual, but what isn't in 2020? |

Everyone keeps attributing the jacked-up prices to breakers, which I tend to agree with for the most part, but how does this make any sense with flagship? I don't know any breakers who group-break flagship. Are there really people buying cases of this at these price points? I know 2019 is not 2020, but I felt like I overpaid last year for my $750 jumbo case of 19 update.

I'll be curious what they do with no ASG being played.
Also, whose been confirmed for rookies? There's a ton of good rookies that could be put in Update, but also could be put in 21 S1. I think Tsutsugo would be the only on all but confirmed right now right, given he was in Archives and thats usually the first indicator of rookies in Update? But seriously any rumors about Cronenwit, Bohm, Adell, Dalbec.....? |

Jo Adell is already confirmed to be in 2021 S1 so he won't have a RC in this (but will have an insert in this).

If, by some miracle, Topps extended the cutoff date for a player to have made a debut and get included in a 2020 flagship product to, say, July 31, 2020, then, as an example, you'd have RCs of: Evan White (7/23) Leody Taveras (7/24) Brady Singer (7/25) Jake Cronenworth (7/26) Nate Pearson (7/29) Nick Madrigal (7/31) Now, interestingly, Luis Robert debuted on 7/24 and was included in Topps Series 2 (released 6/26), so clearly Topps has the ability to make guesses about who will debut in the future, and whether to include those players in products that have to be printed in advance of their debut. But, I doubt they saw any particular player's debut as inevitable as of June 2020, when they likely had to finalize the print order for this product. I think the real question is: how will Topps dole out the flood of top-tier prospects that debuted in 2020 after Aug. 1 in their 2021 products. If most or all are in Series 1, that's going to be a very hot ticket. If they save some of the later folks for Series 2, then both products could be very solid. Then Topps Update will contain, as normal, the prospects that debut on or before June 2021. BTW, if you want to see a list of players and their 2020 debut dates, you can go to https://www.baseball-reference.com/l...0-debuts.shtml and then click the "Debut" column header to sort by debut date. |
