My favorite part of the press things are when it's over and the rabid "journalists" are still asking questions while everyone is walking away

And for him to sit here right now and still bash the "old broken system" that he inherited is just pathetic.

First of all, he's the one who did things like remove the Pandemic task force, so right there, even if he did inherit a broken system, he has made it worse.

And second of all, he's been in office for 3 years, if the system was broken, why do you wait until there is a problem before you try to fix it? He should have been spending the last 3 years working on this system as warnings for potential outbreaks have been going on for years and years.

But the testing wasn't there yet, so who knows how long it has been here.

The numbers will grow, they will hit 6 digits, probably into the millions, and people are going to freak out because the media is going to say, "MILLION WITH CORONA!" When, it actuality, that's very, very low.

I think it's 100% fair to say. If we are going to widely claim that only ~10% of the people currently with the virus have been tested, then you also have to assume it's been everywhere for 2 months already. You can not have it both ways.

We had direct flights to Wuhan to NYC and SFO before this broke out. To my knowledge, Northern Italy does not have direct flights to Wuhan. There is 0 chance we weren't impacted with this at the same time as Italy.

Yeah, lets keep concentrating on just the deaths. Instead of maybe the 5-10 or 15 percent that could require intensive care. Lets not worry about the possible effects on the health care systems around the country. Lets not worry about the people on the frontlines, the health care workers.

Keep pointing at the rising deaths!

Its only 41!
Its only 50!
Its only 100!
Its only 200!

Look at the dead, its not that bad!

Because it’s ONLY 200 people out of 330 million who have died, so it’s not that bad, how dare you use your brain to actually look at the big picture?!?!

I honestly don't think a lot of these "new" cases every day in Italy are all that new. I just think the numbers are just catching up with delayed testing and reporting.

Cant fix everything in three years

Should America have stockpiled medical supplies and equipment since Jan 1997 even though previous admin didn't?

Here's the bottom line for me, and this is the last thing I'll post in here for a while because I'm turning into a not kind person, which I don't like.

I was certainly living in fear up until yesterday. I have been reading EVERYTHING. I have been trusting people, even "doctors" on these boards, watching CNN, etc, and I was convinced this thing is spreading a ton and everyone is at risk. I was seeing these viral stories on CNN - "MAN IN HIS 30'S ON VENTILATOR!" but then you find out he has underlying issues.

I took some time to breathe yesterday and pray and then I started looking at facts. Numbers. And for the life of me I could not understand why we were shutting down the whole economy for some tiny, tiny numbers. Like, beyond tiny. Very few people getting sick. A fraction of a percent of the population dying...like .00001. And I thought this is crazy. The media has absolutely had control over me for no reason. The facts do not support everything that is happening.

So now, there is no more fear for me. I'm going to lose my job but my family will survive, and now my efforts turn toward loving my neighbors. To opening my home to people that will not have a home. To giving what I have left to give to others. That IS where the real suffering is going to be. But I'm actually so much more hopeful today that the economy will rebound quickly because this virus is not scary at all. Very soon people will be back to hanging out together, spending money, but just hopefully a little wiser.

This whole thing has showed how much faith we put in money, in systems, in success, in comfort, in people. My faith is in someone bigger than all of that. Those are all false foundations, and I'm kind of glad those foundations have been shaken in my life and those around me.

You seem like a good dude, you've been on these board a long time. You will be okay, and if you're not - and I mean this seriously - PM Me and I will do what I can.

Reporter: "What do you say to people that are afraid?"
Pence: "Don't be afraid. The risks are very, very low. Older people and people with autoimmune disorders are at high risk and we should take precautions to protect them. Pretty much everyone else has moderate or no symptoms at all."

Like I said before, the scary part is the job loss and the economy and the fallout from that; the fallout from the fears the media has caused everyone. And I'm not on a high horse; pretty sure I'm gonna lose my job too. Sucks. But to continue to escalate things with really really low numbers and a very clear scientific proof now that it's not very deadly is really doing a disservice to everyone else.
And by the way, this is the point

Why does the President snap and lash out at the reporter instead of handling it like Pence?

This is not how the President should be acting, the VP is the one acting like an adult in the room while the President acts like a petulant child who just had his favorite pacifier taken away from him.

Because it’s not about the numbers of people with the virus, it’s about what those cases are doing to the healthcare system as a whole as it will lead to people with all sorts of conditions to not be able to get the care they need.

It’s more than just this virus, it’s the whole thing.

This is a really classy post, well done.

I agree with your same sentiment since this started. I love statistics, as many of us do on this board as it carry's over from sports. I keep crunching the numbers, and my brain is telling me the same thing, yet I've been so focused on what trained professionals are saying and it scares me. Not the media, but actual virologists and epidemiologists, I do not know how much longer though I can continue to take their views as the spoken word though, it is getting to me, mentally.

I saw that live and it was not remotely similar . Also interesting that you would choose the worst president ever, until trump , as an example .

History is littered with Presidents having feuds with journalists. Didn't start with Trump, won't end with Trump.
