Hey NYCRUNNERS -

We’d like to start by saying how saddened we were to learn of the New York Road Runners New York City Half’s cancellation amid the coronavirus concerns. Our hearts go out to all of you that were planning on running and to the entire NYRR family. We know how disappointing it is to have something like this happen, but these circumstances are, of course, unprecedented. And like all of you, we’re closely monitoring the dynamic situation.

EXCLUSIVE:
For weeks, thousands of flu samples sat in Seattle as researchers sought to test and flag them for coronavirus. The C.D.C. wouldn’t allow it.

When testing did happen, it was too late. The virus was upon us.

Syracuse has suspended classes till March 30th as well. My wife is expecting campus to completely close (research labs and all) by the end of the week.

I’m in MA for work this week, they just went to state of emergency, people are generally unconcerned though.

Wayyyy overblown at this point.

especially because the article i just read that listed the clause in the ticket purchase they're relying on says nothing about the event themselves cancelling it.

They're going to be forced to send refunds, they cancelled it on their own, if people decided to just not show up because of the virus, then I could see them having an argument to not refund.

But cancelling it themselves? They'll get sued and be forced to refund it all, no way around that.

The Texas attorney general is going to step in....I guarantee it.

I also guarantee they will be refunding everyone.

NC is going to go from 300 total test kits for the state to 1800 next week, so expect the numbers here to suddenly go way up.

"The festival's public refund policy states, "SXSW does not issue refunds under any circumstances," including "failure to use Credentials due to illness, acts of God, travel-related problems, acts of terrorism, loss of employment and/or duplicate purchases."

If they had to pay vendors, secure hotels, put down deposits etc ... they're not gonna refund anyone.

Add to the list of restrictions in Ohio:

only 2 family members from each player will be able to attend Boys/Girls basketball tournament games. Sad for the kids especially the seniors when this is their last ride.

Believe the NCAA meets today probably to determine what will happen in the tourney, guessing that at least the 1st 4 in Dayton will be no fans.

That's better than canceling like Connecticut did.

For the video game players out there, very strong rumor that E3 is going to be officially cancelled today. I imagine all the planned announcements will still happen via prerecorded videos, but all the show floor stuff is gonna be gone.
