Default Walmart 50 pack bundle for $20

https://www.walmart.com/ip/NHL-Hocke...00-s/813432752

Has anyone bought these? I bought a bunch of the baseball ones, but I'm curious on these...possible early Young Guns?

I’ve ripped similar products before. What you’re more likely to pull are older htf inserts. Which, if this was basketball, would be huge money. But it’s hockey so even insanely htf stuff is often cheap. However never underestimate hockey set builders. I’ve seen them drive the price up on otherwise seemingly valueless cards to absurd levels. So yeah it’s worth a shot. But probably not gonna pull a Crosby yg.

I hear that. I mean, it's $40, right? It'll take me a solid two plus hours to run through them. In two hours of work, I make more than $40 an hour after taxes. For me, there is some value there. I will be opening them with my daughter. That itself is worth the $40. If I happen to pull anything, that's cool too.

I’m sure you’re aware but always look closely, there are some insertsarallels that look a lot like the regular card. Also those stupid old 1990 pro set packs, there’s a small handful of valuable variations in them. Could get lucky there too. It’s all a dice roll. My one LCS has a 5 dollars per box junk wax area. I buy crap off it all the time just for fun. I’ve actually pulled some decent stuff out of it but it’s more about enjoying the hobby.

Ah crap, this break will require knowledge that I don't have.

I will post in here with questions.

The parallels you'll spot if you look closely. But some sets had die cutting as a chase and if you don't know that you'll pass over them. Or those older "topps gold" sets which had levels of chase cards and then levels of parallels to the chase cards. That was fun. The pro set variations you need to know what you're looking for. The easiest one is the nordiques player with the bloody nose. It was corrected very early in the run and copies sell for anywhere from 100 and up depending on condition. I've seen graded copies go over 200. That sets stupidly condition sensitive because they cut the cards with what seems like barbed wire. But yeah any questions always ask. Otherwise that's how guys like me find really rare stuff in dime bins at shows because it got passed over and shoved in a box. Hell when the really big card show is in town I have a friend who goes all 3 days and does nothing but dig through cheap bins finding bargains. I'm amazed at the stuff he's brought back doing that. But when Upper Deck decides to make 9 variations of a card with the only difference is background color and several of those colors look very similar, ugh. I'm looking at you old SPX sets.

Got my order in today!

Pretty happy with the 05-06 Upper Deck series 2! I don’t know a lot about hockey, but it should be fun!

Thank you for sharing. I have two coming Wednesday, three coming Friday. If anything, it will be a fun rip, I have no clue what I am going to do with the base I won't want.

Were any of the packs in mini-boxes, or were they all loose in the wal-mart box?

Would be wild if you pulled one of those Stanley Cup hologram cards from the old Pro Set packs....
