Jaypers, I think another thing you should add is a price tracker. Just start with the pre-release price and then let people post whenever it changes and add it to the op. It would be cool to watch it and then compare it in the future.

Actually, one thread for all Bowman would work too and you can see it in that thread.... NVM I will do that.

I don’t think prices are really “up”.

I think blowout is going to continually raise the price $100-200 a week until release so that the group break participants pay more per spot.

Same thing happens with every bowman release, no?

Doesn't look like we're getting anything this release outside of houdini. 16 days away and not even a thread created.

There’s no checklist. Tough to run an auction before you know who’s in it

No. There has been a strong pre-sale so far. Cases are flying off of eBay and the cheapest eBay case now is over 2K on Jumbo. One Hobby left on eBay for 1400 but that will be gone by today so $1650 will be lowest Hobby on eBay.

I sell my cases to the big boys every year and right now they are low on inventory and looking for more. At least some of them.

I'm talking about random pick draft breaks. Last year the first break opened 4/2 for a 4/25 release. So we're about a week behind. Maybe Dave is just planning a PYP break instead.

Break price was $1669 last year with Ohtani hype. This year it's already at $1600. Yikes.

I’m typically with you on most stuff, but not on this. $1600 isn’t a bargain (for 12 autos) when we don’t even know the checklist.

I don't think he is saying its a bargain per auto, I think he's saying that is a bargain based on current market vs last year.

I know I have had many offers to buy all my cases. I did that a bit in 2018 just because it was a no-brainer, but I am trying not to sell any this year.

lol @ bargain

This market has made me look like a hero for my prices on my shelves. It's just too bad distributors are allocating so heavily.

If history is accurate, the announcements should start this week, hopefully today. Fingers crossed. And hopefully they don't pull any April Fool's jokes - we'll know that's the case if the first one is Tebow.

Give me a couple minutes. I have been away on a long weekend so catching up.

Correct. I'm not saying the price is a bargain for opening product. I don't think I'd open Hobby for 1K let alone 1600. But from an investment standpoint, if you can buy for $1600 today and sell a month from now for $2000, it's a good investment. I haven't opened Bowman in years because the case sales are so strong.

For anyone whose keeping track, I believe pre-sales started at 1450 H/1750 J this year.

I agree on the distributors, but you also have to play the game sometimes. I remember people saying they were priced out on BDPP at $1400 but today you can get $2400. I know not everyone has the cash to hold product that long but if you can, the prospect products generally are the safest investments around even if you are just looking for a 3-6 month flipping opportunity.

Flip before fall though. Last year 18 Bowman Hobby was back down to $1300 by Nov.

Yep. October-December are great times to buy. April-July are great times to sell.

Please show me a $1600 hobby case sale on eBay...I’ll be waiting...

Several recent eBay sales also include 8% eBay bucks and Ebates.

I don’t blame you for wanting to get the most out of your cases, but you are acting like they are only making 1000 cases of this stuff....lol

Here we go.

The Topps Company @topps hmmmm ... with Bowman baseball coming on April 17, we should start revealing some of the autographs signers. #BowmanBaseball

I never said there was a sale on eBay at 1600. My point is the price is being driven up by sales, not just because a seller wants to create their own higher group break market. I know for a fact at least one big retailer who I speak to regularly who is seeing realized sales at current prices. If enough cases sell at 1200, they'll go to 1300. Enough at 1300 and they go to 1400 and on and on. That case I mentioned a few hours ago was sold after I posted so now the cheapest you can buy on eBay is $1650 and BO is $1600. Those are not manipulated numbers. The stock market works the same way.

Secondly, I'm speaking from experience. If the market you see isn't a true market, then BO sure has a long con going considering they are BUYING cases at release for significant markup. What would make you think that this year is any different than the previous few years? We already know Wander Franco, Joey Bart, and Vladimir Guerrero are in it. That alone is enough for Bowman to stay the course. If Topps surprises us with Tebow or Murray, then the price would only go higher.

What we know for sure is that there is an established historical context that supports these prices. That alone would be enough to convince me to invest even without the information posted above. Until the market reverses course, I will fully expect craziness on the Bowman market 2 weeks from now even beyond what we are seeing today.
