As a Kings fan who wishes Fox or Hield would win the award (and I think they're up there for honorable mentions), I think it should be Siakem. He's made huge leaps this year.

I like Siakam and I am a huge fan of Collins (he is my biggest PC). But objectively I would give the MIP to D’Angelo Russell. Went from an outcast to an all-star that is LEADING his team to the Playoffs. I don’t have a good grasp about the numbers improvement as I do not follow him but awards in the NBA are like 50% stats and 50% storyline anyway so yeah.

That's kind of an odd way to look at it. Someone who goes from 2ppg to 8ppg looks better than both at a 300% increase. Percent increase naturally favors people with lower starting numbers.

I love (and PC) Collins but he shouldn't get MIP. It's really hard for a 2nd year player to win it given that he's expected to develop. Collins' rookie year numbers show the potential to do what he's doing right now...he's just getting more playing time and touches. So, even though he's technically "improved", it's within of his learning curve based on his previous production.
I think the biggest threat to Siakam is actually Fox. I know he's a 2nd year player and my previous point stand. But he literally went from below average backup PG to borderline All-Star (or close to it) in a year. That is amazing. He's improved in every aspect of his game and kept his team in contention for the year. I think Jokic is a sleeper too. Team is getting the 2nd seed and he's a Top 5 MVP candidate.

I don't have a horse in this race. One can't just go off of stats, percentages, or any 1 thing imo in a vacuum. Siakam is having a positive impact on a top playoff team whereas Collins is playing on a team that only wins 1 out of 3 games. Both are good young talent and both would make the All Improved team if they had one like an All NBA team.

Julius Randle has made some big improvements in his game this year. He has already made more 3s this year then he made in his entire career prior. Along with a good increase in scoring overall.
