Default How do you decide what to grade?

Started collecting again recently, thinking about sending some cards I pulled off to BGS, but curious. How do you decide what gets sent off for grading?

Autos?
Jerseys?
card values >= certain amount?
Sentimental value?
Expected high grade?

Do you get everything in your PC graded, or only parts of it? Just curious how people decide what gets graded. Thank you!

Many people like to grade rookie cards.

Only grade if planning on selling. BGS has priced themselves out of any other reason to grade.

Rookie year and then approx value after that. Some do have entire PCs graded, others parts. That's completely up to you. I wouldn't grade regular jerseys, but patch cards if and only if it's truly clean edges, corners, surface compared to thickness. If it only has sentimental, then nah. Expecting a high grade is the definition of a grading submission. Don't send borderline cards, especially in your first few orders just to play it safe.

Default How do you decide what to grade?

I hve been sending my pc for grading to BGS and have cracked a few as well with a 95% success chance of bumping from same BGS company or switch over from PSA-BGS...

Why i grade my PC cards?

1.)PROTECTION: Coz my pc guy came from the 90's(Allen Iverson). The slab protects the card more when dropped its in the slab and it doesnt open up unlike mags or toploaders.

2.)DISPLAY: Having them slab looks more fancy to put on display (reconsidering not all to be displayed cos of wear and tear). It looks more nicer to my eyes seeing slabs with label of the item of what it is.

3.) GRADE: We are human being, in the end we will decline. We may never know we need this precious collection of ours for whatever personal usage. With a good grade it will really help someday if u wanna sell them (reconsidering what set or player u collect). I only have one preference on grading. I need my allen iverson rookie cards as much as possible to be all BGS 9.5...

These 3 are my main purpose for grading...

I don't get my cards graded per sey but I do like to get some of my nice IP and TTM autos certified from PSA DNA.
