Conversely, there are millions of Americans who are troglodytes. Case in point, my co-worker's husband who went around this morning telling his Hispanic co-workers "nice knowing you!" and has been very clear that ALL Muslims should be kicked out of the country, full stop.

well fought battle. I knew the Dems were doomed the moment Florida finally tipped red and stayed that way.

I wonder if Sanders had won the primary if he would have done better against Trump. Fewer scandals, that's for certain. And he was exciting and didn't feel "entitled" to teh support he was earning.

the DNC had a gimme handed to them and dropped the ball. Liberals everywhere deserve to lay in this bed that was made for them.

Yep. That's how it goes around here. Not of them. Not even most of them. But there is a nasty element of the population who - whether Trump intended to unleash or not - now feel they can air objectively nasty perspectives with a sense of superiority.

Not saying they don't have freedom of speech. Just that white supremacy is celebrating.

While the libs are basically calling all Trump voters racist. The media last night was blaming Clinton's loss on white people.

But yet they seem to have no problem with the current racist president.

how? It was a red sweep in the house and senate. should be easy street.

the only hope for liberals at this point is if Trump is the Trump of the early 2000's that was socially liberal.

i took a screenshot of an interesting statistic that was available on google analytics last night. Trump took 80% of the counties in which less than 10% of the adults have bachelors degrees.

So, trying to imply Trump voters are unintelligent?

Did the analytics list who won counties with the most unemployed or welfare recipients?

Someone I know (professional athlete) just posted that his niece who attends Mississippi State woke up with flyers for the KKK saying they are alert and awake. Scary times in some parts of the country.

I'll say it again we need to come together as a country now. It will take a few days/weeks/months for the shock to wear off for some but if there was anytime it is now.

All that being said, friends are telling me they are protesting in NYC shortly. Should I take the camera and go out and take some pictures?

Given Trump's penchant for grudges, the guy has to be nervous. Not to mention the fact that there is still a war between Trump and the "establishment" Ryan represents. Between Trump, tea party congressmen, establishment congressmen, and democrats waiting to pounce, he's got a lot to juggle.

I'm still convinced Trump was in character throughout the campaign. Whether he reverts back to his actual self or continues to play the bit remains to be seen. It's why a Trump presidency doesn't feel like the end of the world to me - he seemed pretty aware and level-headed prior to crashing the GOP. I'm more concerned with the behavior of certain elements of the population that have latched onto his character and are now out in full force.

The one at Union square? I swear there's a protest there every other day.

Trump is more socially liberal than he pretends to be now. That isn't an issue to me.

If you put truth serum into his veins, I am pretty sure he supports or doesn't have a strong opinion on gay marriage. His stance on education and health care is somewhat socially liberal. "People won't be dying in the streets when I'm president" was a direct sentence from him at one of the debates.

It's really going to be OK. Millions more are going to love the man in 2 years.

This is a time where we come to together as a Country and unite as one.

Yes he might note have any clue about politics or being a president but we as a nation can work together and HELP HIM with this. The left, the right and even the green section can all chime in with ideas and what not.

Hell yea I can deep and passionate as well.

I was born and raised in Texas. Have some pretty deep roots here and this is not how it is. It's funny to me to see this label being brought up. The left has their crazies also. Let's not pretend that each side doesn't have a very small percentage of loonies.

I've never once attacked any member on a personal level. If you can't post without resorting to personal attacks, maybe you need to take a break from the Internet for a while. You're obviously having a difficult time adjusting to the fact your hero Hillary didn't win. At least theHeel and Cam didn't hide their blind love of Clinton, while you kept claiming you didn't like her, but had to respond to everyone's negative post about her, sticking up for her constantly.

He's gone off the deep end, don't take it personally. He's sitting in a corner sucking his thumb wondering why everyone is so mean to Hillary.

calm down, sunshine. I thought it was an interesting statistic.

and i don't think you would want to know the answer to your second question, but i'll do a quick cursory google for you.

as to which states have the highest number of welfare recipients- Mississippi (45.3%), Louisiana (44%), Tennessee (41%), South Dakota (40.8%), Missouri (39.4%), Montana (39%), and Georgia (37.9%).

all of those states flipped red last night.

Mississippi (58/47 Trump) with just under half the districts being blue (was not expecting that as blue in the red-won states tended to be around big cities)
Louisiana (58/38 Trump) with most blue around BR, NO, and Shreve.
Tenn (61/35 Trump) with blue being Nashville and Memphis
SD (61/32 Trump)
MIzzou (57/38 Trump) with the blue being near KC and STL
Montana (57/35 Trump) with blue being near the big cities (but not Helena)
Georgia (51/46 Trump) with the blue clustered around Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah, and a little to the southwest.

I'm sure everybody's seen that 2014 story about the welfare capital of the country being in KY where the place is 99% white and 95% republican, and also flipped red overwhelmingly for Trump at a 63/33 split with the only blue districts being around Louisville and Lexington.

NPR broke it all down for you if you'd like to take a look yourself.

counties with the most unemployment voted Trump in Ohio and Michigan. Least college educated voted Trump.

here's Ohio:

Ohio 2016 Presidential And State Election Results : NPR

you can click "state results" in the top right and find your state to take a look.

even in California, which was a blue state, you find that Trump fills out most of the lower bracket in the college-educated data.
