Default Anyone own a Canoscan 9000F Mark II Scanner?

I just bought one and I'm not the most tech savvy person in the world.

I took a scan and it saves it as a PDF.

When I try to upload to my flickr account, it will not let me upload a PDF. So I'm guessing it has to be a jpg or jpeg?

I have no idea how to convert that or maybe I'm not using the scanner properly. Any suggestions from anyone who owns one? Thanks!

You're doing it wrong. I forget how to set it up because it was a long time again but I will recommend to RTFM. If you don't know what that means shoot me a PM .

It's a great scanner.

Yea I'm just an idiot lol.

I was hitting the auto scan button and it was saving the image as a pdf. All I had to do was hit the photo button for it to scan the card as a JPG.

Amazing what happens when you RTFM. One really cool feature is that if you close the scanner and the card is in just a penny sleeve (or sometimes a toploader) it auto crops it which saves very valuable time.

Can I assume RTFM stands for "read the f****** manual"

I will not confirm or deny using profanity.

OP, I am not tech savvy either. On mine though I just had to go under settings and switch

Item type from document to photo

File type from PDF to Jpeg

Come on now, I'm a man. I don't know how to read a manual when trying to set up anything lol.

That's awesome about the auto cropping.

It's definitely going to be easier than trying to take pics.

Expect a sales thread on here by tonight hopefully.

First scan using this scanner:

Yea autocropping is great. Doesnt work with graded cards b/c too much light on the sides. Scan slabs with the cover open and they look amazing.

Make sure you keep the surface as clean as possible. If autocropping stops working its probably because you have too many fingerprints on the glass.

Oh yea, I read manuals because I hate doing things twice.

I've very OCD about things and my cards. For example, if I take a graded card out of the team bag it's in, I never put it back in that team bag it gets a new one. Trust me, the surface of the scanner will be clean

Yes, people at the National were shocked that my cards were alphabetized. I know the feeling good man.

That's very smart from a selling standpoint. Much easier to find the card(s) you're after.

I have a CanoScan LiDE 110, so I don't know if yours is the same, but my scan program has a "Use the scanner driver" checkbox. Once I do that, I can put multiple cards on the scanner, and run a preview scan. Then I can outline each card, and it scans each one as a separate image. Then, flip the cards over, and do it again. 4-6 cards, scanned front and back and not much longer than it would take to do 1 card front and back. Great time saver!
