If only...
If only our government was as efficient as my family is we wouldn't have to have tax cuts because they wouldn't be taking as much money out of our paychecks as they are now needlessly.

THIS exactly. That's the #1 reason I vote Republican. That's also been my biggest disappointment with Trump's Presidency; that the Republicans can't reign in spending.

Same. I want the government to spend less and my taxes to reflect that

Republicans just spend differently, not less.

That’s what annoys me. Spend less, than cut taxes

You haven't been paying attention in the last 30 years, then. You should be voting Libertarian.

Recently they have spent the same and cut taxes leading to more debt and deficit issues. Every politicians is just trying to survive to the next election cycle so they can milk the system as much as possible. Too much money out there for them unfortunately IMO.

What are we going to cut? The one thing that takes up a huge chunk of our budget is the one thing Republicans refuse to even consider touching.

Maybe if some in this current administration didn't need $10K pens and some others didn't need to golf every other weekend, you wouldn't need to be taxed as much.

I've paid attention for the last 18 or so years; once I was old enough to vote. If a Libertarian ever gets on the ticket I'd absolutely vote for him/her.

The more realistic thing would be that the libertarian ideas spread to the Republican Party

@realDonaldTrump
We will never let the great U.S. Oil & Gas Industry down. I have instructed the Secretary of Energy and Secretary of the Treasury to formulate a plan which will make funds available so that these very important companies and jobs will be secured long into the future!

The notion of a "fiscal conservative" was mostly a misnomer, however now they simply do not exist.

"Fiscally conservative" often meant one thing, less social benefits and more military. Trimming of the fat was rarely where it needed it most.

It would be like a struggling family looking at their budget, and making a bold decision to let go of the kid that cuts their lawn, dumping HBO and cutting out the newspaper delivery...while moving into a larger home.

No matter what, the government is not a family home, it is not a business. It never will be, nor should it be.

This is what socialism looks like, for those playing at home. Heavily leveraged industry, drowning in debt, propped up and fully supported by the government.

What's next, more clean coal?

No, not even close. And it's these kind of laughable comparisons that dilute the entire idea of what real socialism is, and how deadly it is.

Socialism IS NOT propping up businesses and individuals in the short term because of a pandemic that has caused the economy to stop producing anything. And to see people compare the two shows how disingenuous the discussion really is. "Ohh, why don't you return the $2,400 the government gave you if you're against socialism" ... absolute garbage.

Both sides like to pull the "Socialist" card when appropriate.

Come on, propping the oil industry isn't short-term.

There's an inherent government safety net with industries like oil, banking, transportation, etc.

Oh, to live life without risk.

Cut everything 25% across the board (it really needs to be closer to 40%, but I’ll compromise). Let each agency/entity decide how to get there.

Twelve years ago we did the same exact thing. We bail out corporations because they don't save for a rainy day and demand huge profits. Why? What makes them more important than people? Why do they get bailed out over and over when they don't change their behaviors?

That would be great because then you’d stop complaining about living in Illinois.

I know you won't tell me, because you've never posted a single fact in your life but I would love to hear it from you ... how did they attack Venezuela?

Illinois wants to go to 7.85%

State income tax rates are so insane nowadays. That’s what you get when you spend willy nilly.
