It certainly seems a bit steep, even for that card. At a lower price I'd certainly be in the mix though.

No doubt!

With 24 total cards since 2012 and available cards popping up every few years I guess it's do or die. Looking at what collectors shell out on shiney prospects, it's not that obscene. Is it fair.....not at all.

The seller lowered the BIN by $2,200 on the Walter Johnson Ball Relic. Starting is 6k which is still a chunk of change.

Maybe a couple more rounds with no takers will bring it down to a reasonable figure.

Nothing new lately...

The Walter now has a starting bid of $4500 with a BIN of $6000. Still pretty steep.

Thanks Shanks! I was hoping for something to chase.

I’ve been watching too. I sent a message just to chat about the card a ways back and seller never responded. Hopefully they come down a little more so it can be snapped up👍

Well..... The Walter Johnson 1/1 Ball Relic sold for $4,319.00. Not quite the $10,000 original price tag, but still a hefty amount. Congrats to whomever won it, hoping someone here

I did notice there were only two bidders at that level.

You're absolutely correct! Very easy adds. Congrats to the 2026 HOF Members Jeff Kent, Carlos Beltran and Andruw Jones.

I need to grab all three. I usually wait until the HOF announcement craze dies down and prices return to normal levels until I get them.

I went for very basic, no more than $6 dlvd on each Kent and Jones. I already had a Mets Beltran Jsy.

I just purchased GU cards for the new HOFers. Like was said, I didn't spend more than $6-$7 each. I also took the opportunity to go through the whole HOF GU collection. I'm sure I know the answer but wanted to make sure I'm correct. Are there any GU cards for the following HOFers?

Jim Leyland
Bud Fowler
Buck O'Neil
John Schuerholz
Bud Selig

Thanks you!

As far as I’m aware they do not. I did find a game used base card that tributes the 2003 W.S. and Bud Selig. There’s also an auto version, but no image of him on the card so I’m not considering it.

Wow! $1300!

That card is not getting any cheaper. I got mine roughly a year ago and paid $872.

It was ScooterD, posted in the April Pickups thread.

I got mine in December 2023 for 520. You can't overpay for the card though if you collect GU.

Guilty as charged - and no regrets on the price.

Big thanks to this thread and its regular contributors for pointing out the significance of this card. Very educational stuff - thank you all for sharing your knowledge with the community!
