well, at least the base cards look nice

the inserts have absolutely no cohesion, and one of them is pretty much just an obsidian supernova without any garish colours.

utterly lazy and the fact they couldn't even be bothered to change 'sneaker spotlight' to boots or cleats just drills home how little they give a #@#@#@#@.

"Sneaker spotlight" is hilarious.

Cards do look nice, though. I guess we can expect random Noir lines every 10 years or so.

As long as these are on-card autos, the singles out of this product will be nice.

Ripping wax doesn't make you a gambler any more than buying a car that insta and always drops $X000 the second you drive off the lot does.

Some of us like opening packs just like we did when we were 7.

Never said it did....I probably love ripping wax just as much as you do.

Was just making the point that manufacturers seem to be releasing A LOT more high-end "hit-only" products, and a lot fewer products that are affordable for collectors who enjoying ripping wax and building sets.

You can probably count on one hand the number of soccer products that are affordable for collectors to rip.....

No, but ripping wax is a gamble. Just like scratch-off lotto.

Yeah but the thing is, ripping packs when you were 7 cost you a few cents, now you're looking at hundreds of dollars.

Exactly....

When I was a kid, the "value proposition" was fine....a box of Topps baseball (in the 1980's) cost around $9-15, and you got 540 cards.

Nowadays, even the cheapest products cost close to $100 a box, and 80% of boxes give you back less than half of the cost of the box in value.

This is 100% a country set.

What is the latest on preference for club or country? About 10 years ago club cards always sold for a lot more. Seems to have changed a bit.

A lot of it is the fact that players switch clubs so frequently....whereas you only represent one country.

I think demand for club cards is very player/team specific.....when a club is doing well, and is holding on to it's players for multiple years, demand increases.

But when a player switches clubs every year or two, or when a club buys/sells a lot (like Chelsea, for example), demand for those cards decreases...because who wants a card of a player who isn't going to still be on your club in 12 months.

Not really.

You get *exactly* what it says on the box/case.

If it says you get 1 auto, 3 silvers, 6 inserts, that's what you get with extremely rare exception, or better, [and then topps/panini are usually willing to make it right if you didn't get you auto].

No different from buying a car that usually devalues the second you take it home.

These 2 things can be true at the same time. Yes, you get what is stated on the box. Yes, it is a gamble as to the value of what you get.

The car analogy pretty poor. With a vehicle you have a clearly defined devaluation schedule and you dont have the possibility of driving it off the lot and having it be worth less than 1% of what you paid, or 5000% of what you paid.

The impression I get these days is that there are more gamblers than collectors.
