What a fckin turd. That kid wasn't old enough to make that decision so you know the dad just saw $$ in his eyes. That would have been a really dope jersey to get framed with the picture and kept until the kid was an adult, but he just wanted to profit.

He should be responsible for his actions instead of irresponsible. He effectuated the consignment therefore he should stop trying to wiggle out of his agreement.

Lost it all on fifteen cases of NT spurs team spots.

Padre was definitely gunning for the 911 w/ tech package.

Ain't no way he was finna settle for the 718 Cayman after dragging his son through the Elian Gonzalez media tour.

Exactly. Even at a conservative return, it would more than double by the time the kid is in college.

I think the thing the Dad regrets is the timing of the auction. He probably feels like is sold for a lower amount than it would have due to Wemby being out for the year. If the jersey was given back to him, it would just go back up for sale next season. I’m a little surprised any athlete gives away a jersey these days. Most end up with Goldin within a few weeks.

Maybe it's because I see them around a lot but I'm coming more around to the idea that the topps chrome auto will be wemby's definitive rookie auto card

Nice karma for this collector.

Apparently, the pack with the $10k king snake Wemby was replacement for a 2015-16 NT Patch Auto redemption the collector waited 9 years for.

I thought prices would go down more but no cheap Wemby Autos out there. Maybe some steals will be available come summer time.

How long did it take for Zion prices to become cheap? Are they really cheap considering his diminished potential? You can multiply that with Wemby.

People aren't willing to take a loss yet, especially when they already payed way more than they should have in the first place. The offseason will probably show some softening, but Wemby is still the NBA's shiny new toy. Another highly touted prospect will come in and take his spot eventually.

You're right and we'll see some of that this year when Cooper Flagg cards start to come out but long term (assuming he can play and the blood clots aren't a chronic issue) Wemby is still a crazy level of prospect

He's been doing unprecedented stuff since his rookie year

Also comparing Zion to Wemby is pretty insane, Zion clearly has very little intrinsic motivation and he shows that by his lack of willingness to get in shape, so because of that it's basically been one disappointing year after another

Im only comparing Wemby to Zion in the way that collectors were so wedded to him for so long, after the Pels started to slide and disperse assets.

I would personally buy Victor if his price came down, but they won't. I mean unless the whole economy tanks, but that's relative.

During his appearance at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago on Saturday, Giannis Antetokounmpo shared that he’s looking to add Victor Wembanyama rookie cards and memorabilia to his personal collection, citing his lofty expectations for the 2023 No. 1 pick.

“I want Wemby’s first rookie card ever,” Antetokounmpo said during an appearance alongside his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex on an eBay Live stream with Goldin Auctions founder Ken Goldin. “I think he’s gonna be one of the best players in the league in the next couple of years. I think he will have a very great career moving forward, so — maybe like a jersey, his first jersey or his first basketball shoe when he played his first NBA game, or the first ball that he played with and scored his very first point. You gotta go with Wemby, Steph (Curry), LeBron (James), MJ (Michael Jordan). Those are great investments.”

“Michael Jordan, hands down,” Thanasis Antetokounmpo added. “I don’t care if it’s a shoe, the hat, the card, the jersey. Michael Jordan, hands down.”

They then both agreed that Kobe Bryant should be added to the list too.

The highest public sale of a Wembanyama rookie card came in February when his one-of-a-kind 2023-24 Panini Prizm Nebula sold for $860,100 in a Goldin auction days after a blood clot in his shoulder brought his season to a premature end. One of the three jerseys Wembanyama wore in his first NBA regular season game sold for $762,000 in a Sotheby’s auction in November 2023, far exceeding the auction house’s initial estimate of $80,000 to $120,000.

In July, Wembanyama was cleared to return to the Spurs following his injury.

Antetokounmpo has a sizable collection of his own trading cards, which he has previously shown off on social media. On Saturday, he refused to divulge exactly how many of his own “logoman” cards — which include the NBA logo patch from a jersey — he owns. His most valuable card is his 2013-14 Panini National Treasures autographed rookie logoman, which sold for $1.8 million in 2020.

In addition to sharing his belief in Wembanyama’s future, Antetokounmpo also explained why his autograph has changed since his rookie season. He started by signing his full name until he realized how difficult that would become over the course of what he hoped would be a long career, so he shortened his signature to just his initials."

I finally was able to add a Wemby Auto in the off Season. Picked it up yesterday, great condition and on card auto. Spurs had a great summer looking forward to see them play.
