Default 2013-14 Prizm Blue project COMPLETE! Thanks to an assist from a member here

For the last couple years, I've been trying to complete the 2013 Prizm Blue Pacers set. Seeing as the team set only has 8 cards, there were no big name rookies, and the Paul George was pretty cheap...this shouldn't have been all that difficult.

For whatever reason, the George Hill has been really hard to track down. Burbank had a copy several yrs ago for $7, but I was too stubborn to pay it. I assumed another copy would show up on COMC for cheaper. It never did.

After a while, the Burbank copy disappeared. I've put out multiple posts on social media trying to track this thing down, with no success. Until a few weeks ago, when Blowout member TheTimeIsNow (@mavscollector on Instagram) reached out to me with a picture of the Hill and said something to the effect of, “Aren’t you looking for this card? I have this copy that’s a little scratched up, but you can have it free of charge.”

On top of that, he sent me a small stack of Pacers and Ron Artest odds and ends. Michael, I know I’ve thanked you privately already, but I want to thank you again. It felt really good to slide the last card into that binder page.

What are your "simple" projects that have hit a major snag along the way? Feel free to share them here.

Awesome! Great feeling finishing a team set like that.

Nice dude. Blues were SP that year, no wonder it's hard to track the cheap veterans.

I think there's between 300-400 copies of each. That makes them tough, but for whatever reason, this one was ridiculously difficult. It's probably my favorite parallel of the Panini era. Thanks for replying!

always great to see collectors helping each other out. I think with most non superstar cards it is TOUGH to track down basic cards since people do not bother to list them. Ebay standard envelope and COMC have helped but there is still a long way to go. Thanks for sharing Kyle.

Mavscollector (IG) is pretty much my favorite person in the hobby. Not surprised that he helped you out here.

Glad it worked out--cool set!

Very cool that he helped you out, and good to have it finished. Perhaps this is a lesson learned that if someone has the card you want you'll pay up to get it instead of waiting years to find another one! Pretty wild it took that long to find one again.

At the same time, it made for a more interesting hunt. But for the most part, I agree!

Nice completion. Mavscollector has an incredible collection, one of my favorites is his ‘94 Kidd rookie refractor, one of the best colored examples you’ll ever see.

Were this year’s reds similarly short printed? Picked up the Penny at some point, must have been in a lot.

My understanding is that they were. The blues were Walmart exclusives and the reds were only at Target.

Yea, I knew about the Walmart/Target exclusivity. According to a couple members in an older thread it appears the blues are much tougher than the reds… https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1357722

The blue inserts are even more ridiculously rare.

I think that deals more with the insert parallels though, right?

I looked through my small stack and no Gasol. I'll keep an eye out. I had heard at one point between 300-400, but I can't confirm.

This thread and this video seem to indicate they were around one per blaster. I know it's a small sample size, but this 5-blaster break had 6 blues and 1 blue auto /25.

The next steps would involve figuring out the other configurations (retail boxes, rack packs, etc) and then how many were manufactured. I know it was a lot more limited release then than it is now.
