It is easier for a 4 year pro to learn a new offense, then it is for a kid coming in from college, who has yet to even play a game in the Pros. Sorry, but I disagree completely on that. And i only pointed out how it was nonsense to even mention that the college player would have an advantage there.

I just dont think them deciding to stay with Fields or not fire Flus, as the same apocalypse that writer you linked does.
Point remains that the Bears are not putting Eberflus in the best position to succeed from a staffing point of view. It's harder to find an OC who wants to come to a city where you may only have one year to prove it before you're out looking for another job because the HC is already on the hot seat.

And yes, I'd say it is easier for a 4th year pro to learn a new offense rather than a kid out of college. But you're not taking into account their salaries, which give the rookie a huge advantage because lower salary = more time/patience. If you draft a college kid, you're giving that kid at least 2 training camps and 2 full seasons to learn the ropes, make mistakes, and show improvement (maybe 3 training camps and 3 seasons depending on the growth shown). Fields basically needs to master a new offense in a single training camp otherwise he's not getting paid and he's probably looking for a new home. That's why I give the learning advantage to the rookie. If you give 3 training camps and 3 full seasons to Fields to learn a new offense, then yeah, I'd give Fields the advantage. But that isn't realistic since Fields is gonna want to get paid before that.

Now I can see the Bears not wanting to wait 3 years before they're competitive so if they stay with Fields, I hope he can learn the offense quickly and the Bears give him a big pay day because that means he played amazing and the Bears at least made the playoffs.
