I agree with you buying in auctions will give you your best deals. Auctions tend to sell for 30% to 50% less then what an item sells for in my store.
With me I would prefer to sell of that hot rookie now and and recover my money from my cases that I break. I find that the biggest profit is on the rookies everyone passes on when a product is released. Most of them are just learning the system and takes 2-5 years before they see significant playing time to have a major impact on any team.

I keep hoping for them to come in more but nothing yet (although I did see a camo Unlimited Potential go for 4600 when at the peak the same card sold for over 20k on Goldin!). I'm pretty much an auctions only buyer though right now. Liquidity has been evaporating even over the past month. I don't mess with the OBO's unless I am certain it is a truly good price. We are definitely at the part of the economic cycle where survival of capital is key. If you don't see yourself holding the asset in 5 years time, you want it off your books before the stock market hits its seasonally weak period in the summer. I've got about 6 cards to sell by June and I'm pricing them to move. Hoping for some great deals at the National in July. Low buying the first few days could mean awesome prices as dealers realize they can't get inflated prices.
