Why all the hate for BBCE. The pitchfork crowd comes out. Its usually all the small time collectors leading the charge.
Same haters for every type of authenticating service. Experts make mistakes. fake and altered cards get slabbed, experts get fooled. fake autographs get authenticated by experts all the time. He made a mistake and owned up to it. I am sure it wont be the last time he authenticates a fake box or pack. Its inevitable. Its not fraudulent, its a mistake. Some small percentage of bbce authenticated wax is bound to be tampered or sealed with. Hes not a scammer or shyster. Hes an experienced expert in unopened wax who isnt perfect. Just like trimmed and altered cards get by the experts at PSA. Hes responding just as you would want an expert to respond. By learning from this mistake and trying to make sure there is a lesser chance of it happening again. Sure BBCE may lose some customers and confidence in the short term, but the majority of the long term unopened collectors and investors know and trust Steve. They have opened plenty of legit BBCE boxes and packs. But sure hes made mistakes before and owned up to them and it will happen again. Wax authenticated by BBCE will still hold a significant premium over non authenticated wax. I certainly will continue to have no hesitation in buying BBCE authenticated unopened. I certainly dont buy BBCE authenticated wax thinking this is 100% untampered with. I buy with the assurance that it most likely is untampered with, but you would have to be either stupid or dumb to think any expert is always 100% correct. |
