What about the other 75-85%? What about all the people who just bought sub $300K thinking they can push more fast money out with a PWCC/MBA Sticker now? Some people in the $400s may have felt like they were underwater and this is their life vest.
No different than the stock float of <insert said company> getting traded over and changing hands as prices rise. The supply is truly endless as far as cards coming to market, even if the supply of cards (shares) is capped.
It takes me a handful of days to get a card in front of an auction house, so while there may be none in reserves now, the sellers are still there.

Supply is still 318.
And this is different from stocks because an individual stock is identical and indistinguishable. Not so with the MJs. Every PSA 10 is unique in its own way. And how many are simply out of the market because they are in a PC? And we are talking high rollers here, which means people with fu*k you money and huge egos. What will this card do if a huge pop star/movie star talks about buying it? Then it might start a frenzy with other stars trying to one up other celebrities and these get scooped up? This is MJ PSA 10 1986 Fleer, the most iconic sportscard in the modern era and possibly EVER. You can't put a cap on something so significant and rare. High rollers want to get their hands on rare stuff just to satiate their egos. $$ is nothing to them.
Personally, I have changed my tune in terms of wanting this card due to the recent forged PSAs that look too difficult to distinguish. That risk is too high for me now. But prior to that, I would've been all in.
