Drake Maye - Buy, Sell, or Hold

What are your thoughts on him from a hobby investment perspective? He is young, clearly playing at a high level, and his team is currently winning. They also have cap space and their draft picks. At his current prices, is he a buy, sell, or a hold? I currently have the following 3 cards.. of these 3, what would you do? I bought them in the offseason and I could easily double on the XRC, make a small profit on the /60 (I overpaid as I liked it), and almost double on the Checker.

He’s a front line MVP candidate. A possible sb winner in the next few years.

He’s in a qb heavy conference though.

I’m biased as a pats fan so I say hold but there’s nothing wrong with taking profit. Maybe sell a couple and keep one? What would you roll the profit into? That’s another question to ask yourself.

I would hold unless u really need the money. Lets say this guy win say a suoerbowl and 2 mvps in the next 10 years his cards will go much higher. Of course if he plays bad they will tank similar to jayden daniels.

Sell every Drake card to build up funds for a Tom Brady card.

Make your eBay auction end 10 minutes before kickoff of Drake's first playoff game.

Sell all 3, buy back in the off-season.

Generally I would agree with you. However, I feel like he could be the offseason hype machine. Has a good year, is really young, and the Pats have cap room to make team improvements. It’s all a recipe for quite a bit of hype. His process currently are not even that high in most cases

Cheap in my opinion. I have been offered $400 multiple times, so I’m assuming that is a fair price. I paid $300, which in the offseason was probably $50 too much but I could not find another graded and numbered card of his I like as much around that price point. $400 still seems way too cheap for that card though… He hasn’t become a hobby favourite yet

I have been selling some that I have been getting a 3X return on from buying last season/off-season. And I'm still buying when I find good deals which has still been pretty easy to do! Love sniping buy it nows right after they get listed for way under comps!

Overall his cards are still way undervalued and I agree there should be a lot of hype going into next season especially if the Pats spend some of the cap space on a clear #1 WR and maybe a more athletic TE.

Been sniping buy it nows myself. What's ure best buys? Mine are a topps chrome auto aqua /199 psa 9 for $350 and a orange rated rookie /249 psa 9 for $150. Not great but 100 under comps for both

Very nice. Picked up an obsidian trifecta patch /49 for $65 and an Optic Rookie Kings PSA 9 for $150 in the last week. A few weeks ago got a Finest Auto for $150 and a Finest Prodigies Auto for $120 and already flipped those! Several smaller ones as well!

There will be a few months when the off-season first starts where the hype will die down. As long as you buy back before July/August, you should be fine.

don't see them going far in the playoffs. only played 3 good teams this year.

I might would wait till the Playoffs start before considering to sell his cards in general. Right now they are playing well as a team and he’s at least being pretty efficient. If this trend of good play continues through the rest of the regular season then prices when the Playoffs come around could be much more interesting and enticing. With how things are going now I personally don’t see the team falling off much, if at all, over the last 6 games with a Playoff birth very likely.

Not really fair to say, they beat the Bills and Bucs. There aren't many good teams in the league now, not really any elite teams at all, and those are two of the best.

How many "good" teams are there this year in general? The QB talent fell off a cliff in recent years and there's a ton of parity. The Chiefs are 5-5 and the Broncos are 9-2 when they score 18.1 points per game
