Continuing on the topic of the FBI looking into the players associations and partners, Panini included a fun note in their recent filing related to their antitrust case against Fanatics. Among other things, Panini and Fanatics are fighting over the production of the trading card contracts.

10x the hobby, achieved!
Not sure where the data comes from, but the number of MLB players collecting cards has allegedly increased from less than 10 to over 100, since Fanatics bought Topps. Q&A: Rubin seeing promise in Fanatics’ collectibles, gambling verticals https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.co...ing-verticals/

Update on the Panini vs Fanatics antitrust trial. Fanatics has to share the league license agreements with Panini’s lawyers.

It was actually filed in 8/2023 to produce it. They did but it was heavily redacted. Now it needs to be in the clear. Paul Lesko on Twitter says this isn’t a loss for Fanatics but their lawyers are just doing a good job of delaying the inevitable / racking up lawyer fees. |

Might have been brought up already but Leaf was awarded the license from the MLBPA to make Min or League cards.

I have argued that it is possible and, for some reason, that triggered several people in this forum. |

What are the odds there is an injunction and neither can make licensed product until it’s resolved?

What I don’t know if anyone has ever clarified is when can Fanatics truly start printing product (vs selling) and give versa for Panini. Not sure if the license start date is connected to buying or printing.
I don’t know the exact lead time but I assume it’s at least 3-6 months to print and package. Ignoring any design time which I am sure they can do regardless. |

It's obviously working. Both the Nabisco and Perez-Steele autos are selling for 5-10x more when one of these companies cuts it. Might as well do it if people are paying more. |

So here's a question.....how many more baseball products will Fanatics' actually get out the door in 2025?
You've still got: Ginter Archives Stadium Club Platinum Anniversary Museum Cosmic Chrome Heritage High Number RIP Brooklyn And now with Topps' basketball license becoming active, Fanatics has even more products to try to get out the door. Seems like they've stretched themselves waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too thin in terms of acquiring licenses to far more intellectual property than they have production capability for. |

Some of those could be headed to the “semi-annual” list.
