A rookie red auto of my favorite player for about $300. Trying to make the rainbow. If I can get the Super, I'll have to definitely change my answer on this

I paid about $2300 for a 2018 Juan Soto Chrome xfractor auto PSA 9, just before prices exploded a few years back Got it reviewed and it came back a 10.

* corrected!

At some point in the late 90’s, I paid $7500 for a ‘94 SP ARod RC PSA 10. I eventually sold it to buy my wife’s engagement ring - We’re still married, and the card is probably worth less now? because of the ‘roids / No HOF thing….

$72 1956 Jackie Robinson PSA 3.

Don’t believe I’ve ever spent over $50 on a single card otherwise.

I have a 1953 Topps Satchel Paige that I grabbed off of eBay. It's ungraded; the centering on it is so poor that it's missing the left border, and the condition on it isn't the best.

But... it's Satchel Paige (or Satchell, as it's spelled). It completed my collection of the last Topps card of every Hall of Fame baseball player. And I gave it to myself as a Christmas present a few years ago. I think I spent $125 on it.

(Side note, I believe the President has this card on display in the Oval Office. I would love to know the story behind it.)

Second time for a bgs 8.5 2006 bowman chrome auto Justin Upton red refractor.

About $1600-$1700 (cant remember exactly) for a trout finest auto refractor rc BGS 9.5. back in 2018 I splurged bc I had the most successful box breaks I'd ever had at the time. Pulled a Jaren Kendall 1st Bowman Chrome Red Refractor auto that I sold on here for $900..a Broke 4 boxes of 2017-18 national treasures basketball and sold a Jason Hart FOTL RPA FOR 700, A DeAaron Fox FOTL RPA here on BO foe $1,600 and what is still my biggest sale ever a Lonzo Ball FOTL RPA here on BO for $4500. Plus various other cards I pulled so I had some money to play with. I'll never forget buying the Finest Trout, Update BGS 9.5 Trout, Jayson Tatum Cracked Ice Prizm RC Raw (for 400) a BGS 9 Donovan Mitchell Red Pulsar Prizm RC for 700 an Optic Purple Auto of Tatum for like $200 and a Donovan Mitchell Select Rookie Auto for $250 and STILL having plenty of money left over. The good ol days lol

Default Most you have EVER spent on 1 Baseball Card?

$3500 for this:

Then a few months later, $4000 for this:

It was a little stressful to spend that much on a couple pieces of cardboard, but the returns on the other end made it all worthwhile.

I’m only in the range of $1001-2500 because I bought a couple 1/1 Superfractors of 2 guys I PC…. a Scott Kingery 2015 1st Bowman Superfractor auto BGS 9.5, and a 2021 Bowman’s Best 1/1 Super of Cristian Hernandez. Hoping the latter turns out to be a better investment, but they’re both the ‘crown jewels’ of my PCs (and I have the complete rainbows, which are really cool to look at)

So what is that $7500 in today’s dollars?

I bought a 98/99 Upper Deck hockey gold exclusives 1/1 of my favorite player (Jeff Friesen) for about $150 a few years after release because I'd never seen a 1/1 back then, much less one of my primary PCs.

Sold it for a little bit under that amount a few years later because actually owning that card was pretty underwhelming and I found myself appreciating much cheaper cards that looked cooler, which is where I focus now.

2011 Bowman Chrome Draft Sonny Gray Non-Auto super. I think $325. I later sold it for much more than that.

$151, probably the last card I’ve been able to find for this set too. The few I have left to find will likely cost me much more.

Spent $2K on an Acuna TC Sapphire RC PSA 10.

I know Acuna is down right now but it's such a good-looking piece of cardboard.
