I have all my singles, how many holding their singles? I still have my fati base, and green ungraded. Plus my rookies and stars like mount, Messi and Ronaldo.

Why hold them ungraded? Grade them!!! Value can only go up.

Grading the green will be expensive, not everyone is rolling in money.

I love doing breakdowns of stuff(particularly stuff I do well on...of course, haha!). Here's my Sapphire break down so far:

Purchases:
$3,100~ - 10 Boxes of Sapphire on eBay(Plus tax)
$1250~ - To finish off a base set(Bought raw Fati & Haaland as I had already sent mine for grading, both look gradable as well but I’ll keep raw and in my set for the time being).
$500~ - PSA grading fees.

Total "investment" = $4,850~

Boxes:
I opened 6 boxes. Bigger hits were Salah 1/1, 3 Fati & 2 Haaland. PSA'ed Fati & Haaland and 10'ed all 5. Have Messi, Ronaldo, KM, Mount, Abraham, Lee, Kiota, Tete currently at PSA, which will likely take 6-9 months…Boo! Should have another $500~ in grading fees once these eventually pop.
Still holding 2 sealed boxes.

Sales:
$1,400 - 2 boxes locally to a card friend several months back. $1,400($700 per).
$1,500 - Salah 1/1.
$6,700 – 2 Fati PSA 10’s & 1 Haaland PSA 10
$500~ - Random single sales
Total sales =$7,000~(That’s minus eBay fees and income taxes I’ll end up paying)

Grand totals = $7,000-$4,850 = $2,150 profit

So in the end I have a $2,150 after fee & tax profit, 1 PSA 10 Haaland, 1 PSA 10 Fati, 2 Sealed boxes, 1 complete set(1-100 with all variations & FS) and the singles that are all at PSA being graded(which I’ll still have to pay the grading fees on).

A long way of saying a few things:

1. I should have bought 100k worth of Sapphire. I had the chance(everyone did).

2. 2nd best “card investment” I have made in the past 5 months right behind TopShot.

Love this set or hate it, if your goal is to make money selling cards(and get to keep some nice looking, high value cards in the process), you should have bought this set.

It would have been as easy for you as it was for me. I'm not one of the "baseball dorks" who got it first. I bought all my boxes on eBay($310~ per), just like you could have

I'd also add the above outcome is on the lower end of the profit spectrum from this set (besides the immediate "baseball" flippers). You'd be ~5x your basis from selling boxes which seems like a bit under what you'll get back from the singles + set.

Definitely a monumental buying opportunity.

I do have a ton of singles - are the non hot players worth 10-20 a pop... or mostly single digits?

Likely right, even though my break was extremely good...it is probably just a push, or close to it.

If I'd sold sealed at say 2k(10 boxes) per = 20k-3.1k(buy in)-28%(13% eBay, 15% tax) = $12.1k.

I'm sitting on 2.1k cash and 4k(Haaland PSA 10), 2k (Fati PSA 10), 4k (2 boxes), 2k(guess on the set) and 2k~(guess on singles being graded) - fees & taxes = 10k~ plus 2.1k cash...Is exactly a push minus all the work I've done

eBay would be the best way to check. But I'd hold any decent RC's, stars and even semi-stars to see what the set does in a few years. Like only worth a couple bucks now anyways.

but ... genius business move by Topps. They just got soo many new people into buying their soccer drops - and with secondary pricing it's another lucrative set they can make every year.

So you're the one who kept beating me on the auctions, lol! I was only able to pick up one CR7 sapphire base tonight. Starting to think I'm gonna be priced out of picking up any more going forward.

I lost out on a couple CR7 raw base, but I won a PSA10 CR7. Prices were definitely up a lot more than usual.

Yea, the 10 was me. I was trying to negotiate with other sellers but nobody would come down from $550. I also bought a Neymar and Mbappe PSA 9. But these will be holds for a while.
