Every time it gets a little high for these kinds of things my dad says "I'm going to throw $20 at it!" - even says their sponsored "you got to be in it to win it!"

None for me but if he does win I'll sign the ticket before he does.

When it gets over $500 million -- that is when I go for $100 or maybe $200.

So, now I am rooting for no one to hit tonight ...

Hopefully you kick out a few of us before you go "sans attire" with the site.

When's the drawing? I never play lottery. But might, considering I got $500 Christmas money.

$500 million now. Would not be shocked if the final pot is a tad larger.

bought 2.

here's a question...do you get your quick picks all on the same ticket or do you have them do each pull as an individual ticket....i was behind a guy today that bought $30 worth and had them do it on a separate ticket for each set of numbers...

I use to work at a gas station in high school and this is what alot of people did. Supposedly you've got a better chance of hitting it because when you get it all on one ticket, it takes the same batch of numbers and spits them out on that ticket, where as if you get indiviual tickets, it picks your numbers from a different pool for every ticket.

This is not true. Don't listen to the Foil Hat Lottery Players. I've worked in and with convenience stores since I was 16 (now 32). It is completely random. The odds are the same whether you get them on one ticket or all on separate tickets.

I walk into at least one person a day who claims to have figured out the lottery. They'll always ask "What number is this scratch off ticket on" because they think it makes a difference. It doesn't. Or they believe in the "White Line" theory on scratch-offs as well. Also, doesn't make a difference. The funny thing is these people are never "losers". They may have lost on the lottery tickets they just bought, but don't worry they'll tell you how they hit $500 on a store down the street just yesterday.

I see people all the time when calling on a gas station sitting there buying lottery tickets and sure enough when I leave to go to the next convenience store that same exact person is there buying lottery tickets. There's tons of lottery hoppers who just go from store to store. It's kind of sad.

Vegas wasn't built on winners and neither was the lottery.

Reminds me of the scene in Vegas Vacation between Clark Griswold and Marty the blackjack dealer...
"You don't know when to quit, here's an idea, you give me half the money
you're going to bet, we go out back...
I'll kick you in the nuts
and we'll call it a day?"

I've often heard it said that "you're more likely to be struck by lightning than win the lottery!"

My thought is "If getting struck by lightning could make you a half-billionaire, we'd sure see a lot more people standing out in the rain."

That being said, I have not ever purchased a lottery ticket.

That also being said, if there is no winner tonight just the anticipation and excitement alone of participating in some small way in one of the largest jackpots ever would easily be worth $2 to me. I would consider a small fee on an exciting few moments watching the balls drop, not an investment strategy.
