It's always a challenging design, but I like it.

Nick Kurtz is there. No Roman Anthony (shocker). Drake Baldwin has no auto.

I'm neutral towards it. Its a fun set, but not one of my favorites. I'm sure it will be popular, especially since they put Kurtz in it.

Will be interesting to see how much Fanatics jacks up the price from $280 preorder. Blowout is at $500 right now.

You would’ve thought with them axing Finest Flashbacks last year when it was 1997’s turn, that they would’ve put the die cut embossed refractors in this as at least a parallel set, but nope

Roman's Topps Now was a call up, as soon as that happens it's a no go for current year RCs.

The autochecklist is again rough. There are a lot of vets in the base auto set that I think are cool to see but whose cards will have no value - retired guys like Aramis Ramirez, Juan Gonzalez, Mark Buehrle, and Torii Hunter to name a few, and active vets like Christopher Morel (who had multiple TC Update Orange /25 RC PSA 10s sell for like $32 a few weeks ago), Jordan Westburg, Nico Hoerner, and Spencer Steer. There are 74 rookies in the base auto checklist.

There are some actual cool cards in here; the insert auto checklists in particular are pretty strong. But the resale on the 2024 cards is pretty soft already. For instance, there was a EDLC PSA 10 blue /99 auto that sold in early July for $565 at auction, and a green /75 PSA 10 that sold for right around $500 a couple of weeks later. A couple of PSA 9 gold /50 autos sold for around $450 in June. When a gold /50 auto of one of the best RCs in the set doesn't cover the cost of a box, there's no way to win - there are only going to be about two autos per eight box case that are numbered to /50 or less.

It is fun to rip, but there’s a very high likelihood you’ll get destroyed on value like every chrome product made by Topps. They’ve put way too many parallels in the set which has devalued almost all of them.

This is 100% true - I know there are multiple LCS within 15 minutes of me that will get at least half a case of this stuff and it'll be gone in a few days.

Even last year, these were readily available for $300-$325 shortly after release.

And now they're $600. I agree though. A patient ripper can find one closer to release much cheaper than the Big 3. A patient reseller can hold long enough to make a nice profit once everyone starts needing restock.
