Default Name a sporting event/moment from your childhood that you will never forget.

I'll start.

It's 1988, i am 12, living in Los Angeles. Game 1, 1988 World Series, Kirb Gibson limps to the plate, bottom of the 9th down 4-3 facing the dominant Eckersley.

Well, you know the story. I still can't believe that happened to this day.

As memorable as that moment was for some reason the Scoscia HR off Gooden in the LCS is what I remember most.

The 1989 World Series. That earthquake was an experience I will never forget as long as I live. Just miles from the epicenter, it was unreal how intense the earthquake felt and how many aftershocks arrived in the following days.

Same for me. I lived 75 miles east and I remember feeling a small shake while getting ready to watch the game.

'94 Northridge was the only earthquake that ever truly scared the $$%^#&## out of me growing up....and I too, vividly remember the '89 quake, though I was too far away in LA to be impacted.

I was about 35-40 miles from the epicenter, taking a dooky, when it started. I’ll never forget pulling up trow, darting through the house, seeing out of the corner of my eye all these books and trinkets falling off shelves while it felt like the world was on a fat shaker machine, and then diving under a table. In retrospect, that table wouldn’t have done much good. (I know, I know, doorways. But standing in some stupid doorway wouldn’t have done any good, either.)

My parents were heading to the game -- they had tickets along the baseline that they were given by a team employee. I was at home with a babysitter. Like you, I got underneath the dinning room table during the quake -- everything was shaking like crazy. It's one of the few vivid memories I have from that time.

I went to Cal Ripkens last game. I will never forget the crowd chanting hoping Brady Anderson got on base so cal could bat one last time!

I was so pissed at that game. It looked like they were trying to walk Brady and he was just hacking away at every pitch.

Since it says sporting event, I’ll go with either the 1999 Rose Bowl or watching Melvin Gordon break the single game college rushing record on only 25 carries over 3 quarters. I also saw Philip Humber (who?) throw a perfect game in Seattle.

Was present at all these games.

That was the first baseball game I ever saw. Needless to say, seeing my normally stoic Dad jumping up and screaming in the living room when Gibson hit the homer was memorable too, lol.

2001 Luis Gonzalez’s World Series walk off hit. Not a fan of either team, but that moment will always stick with me.

Jordan’s 63 against the Celtics.

Should add 12/27/86 - Pacers at Bulls, sitting right next to the tunnel the Pacers walked through. Jordan put up 44, Oakley had 13 rebounds and 15 assists.

It isn’t the forgetting that is the hard part, it is the remembering.
Doug Flutie’s Hail Mary against U of Miami.
Mookie and Buckner in 86 WS.
First MLB game Angels at Tigers, Rusty Staub fouled a ball back that stuck in the net.

Wow, you saw MJ in the flesh? What a treat. In hindsight, those Chicago fans during the MJ years got the greatest treat a sportsfan can ever get.

Saw him a couple years later at a pre-season game in East Lansing (prayers to all there). Highlight of that was him whiffing on a breakaway cradle dunk

Donnie Moore in 1986.

Bonds - Game 6 homer in Anaheim

Derek Jeter - Mr. November / The Flip

Also this is pushing the definition of "childhood" but when Tiger Woods won his first master's, it felt like every single person in America was watching.

In person watching Matt Young pitch a no hitter and lose. Seeing MJ in person not a huge game or anything but was still great. Got to chat at him for a few minutes at halftime.

As a Indians/Guardians fan there some great moments at the Jake that I saw in person as a young guy.

Rajai Davis home run in game 7
