Been a lifelong caps fan growing up in dmv area. Named daughter after him. He has been fun to watch over the years. Few players can play as hard as he does year in and year out and still have the skills to put the biscuit in the basket.

You could tell he didn't want an empty netter for 802, he dished it off as soon as he got into the zone...

But then it came back to him and it was like he said "f it" and just threw it at the net...

Lol. Seems a lil ridiculous to say it’s a stupid league. Pretty sure basketball and most major sports don’t count playoffs stats towards season totals

Then you would have league records held by players that played on deep dynasty teams only.

Playoff records are in a separate category but they seem to have less weight with hall of fame voters. I tend to disagree with that as that is where every player wants to be playing in at the end of season.

I generally lean toward the old school but I’m rooting for Ovie. In my opinion he plays a more old school game than Gretz ever did. I always leaned toward the power forward types (Neely, Lindros, etc) so it’s cool to watch a guy that is such a caveman do the things he’s doing.

I agree but there are other players his age and older who are also still playing. Bergeron, Girodano, Pavelski, Burns, Fleury, Carter, etc. Granted, they aren't scoring like Ovi is but they still shouldn't go unnoticed when people talk about Ovi's age like he is the last remaining dinosaur in the NHL.
The game has changed tremendously (softened) as well the last 10 yrs. If you hand out a decent body check this day and age, you are going to be penalized or have to drop the gloves. Definitely a different game.
