I had a feeling that he would have some lower body injury before the end of the season. Turns out it was before the start, unfortunately, for him.

Yeah. He was probably playing at 30% effort while playing some mailman who sees this cornball event as his game 7 of the championship during his free agent year.

I can't believe teams let their high profile players play in these cornball events

Unless it's in the contract, it's pretty hard to stop them. It's a free world, after all.....

It's a similar situation to how Klay got re-injured playing pickup ball while he was rehabbing.

If you're playing basketball, no matter where, when, or with whom, you run the risk of injury.....that's just the nature of sports.

I get that but I wouldn't be happy as an owner seeing my guys playing in these events. Pickup with other pros, fine. Not these things

Because they are pros and they don't get injured playing between them?

no, im assuming this would be done at a professinal training center or a teams practice court. Not some crappy gym playing against mailmen

Yeah, but he was playing in a game that had to be cancelled before the half because the court was wet. They should be a little smarter with what they’re doing in the offseason.

Exactly, boggles my mind how they let them play in these bogus games. I mean they keep people out of summer league game but let them go play on high-school court in a rinky dink gymnasium against regular Joe's giving it 10000%

Seems like a recipe for disaster.

I don't think being tall and lanky has anything to do with suffering a foot injury. It could happen to anyone.

The SuperSonic curse strikes again. Hope clay bennett loses a ton of money and ends up destitute, living in a dumpster where he belongs.

Just going to quote this and say the Thunder shouldn’t exist. Let the curse live on.

I feel like this actually plays perfectly into the Thunder's timetable. They were going to tank this year anyway. Chet was always a long-term boom or bust project, and now he has more time to develop without getting beat down by grown men that weigh 50-60 lbs more than he does. Plus if this pushes out his development, it theoretically just makes him cheaper to resign for his prime years, and as people have already mentioned, the Thunder aren't winning anything for the next few years anyways.

How long must the Thunder tank though? They are professional pickers at this point.

Long enough to cash in on a few more of the 50 picks they have over the next few years. What's the alternative? Unless they can somehow trade a bunch of their picks for at least 2 star players, their ceiling is they become a good middle market team that's competing for the last playoff spot every year.

The BO doctors never cease to amaze!!

"Zion is always hurt because he is fat!!"
"Ja Morant is injury prone because he is too small!!"
"Chet Holgrem is too thin and tall!!"

It doesn't matter what happens, you were too 'something' when you got injured and everyone knew it was coming. Give me a break.
