Ha ha, I was about to post a similar comment. Just 3-4 years ago these 25 cases would've been less than 100k. Now with box prices so absurdly high it's suddenly a "Million Dollar" break.

When 18-19 Flawless Basketball FOTL came out at the end of 2019 you could have bought FOTL boxes on the secondary market for $3,000. So 25 boxes of FOTL would of only been $75,000. Hobby less than that.

My guess....at least 27 or 28 out of the 30. It'll be interesting to see if anyone gets 40k worth of cards.

The Charlotte spot would have to hit 3 or 4 LaMelo's just to maybe break even, if they're lucky.

Most likely all. A LaMelo gold horizontal RPA just sold for $15k. One of the best cards in the product.

Anyone who can afford to pay $40,000 for that break, can afford to lose it.

As someone who has played thousands of hours of dice in casinos and who has been fortunate enough to be in a position to lose a lot of money in entertainment games, I can assure you this is not true. The 320k guy is likely to be hurting the least though that’s for sure.

That 320k guy lost over $250,000 on that break.

No one with a brain ever likes to lose that much.

Then again degenerate gamblers always think they can make it up elsewhere.

A lot of people have a false equivalence between being wealthy and having a brain

My main point was if I had to bet, losing $250k to whoever that was is most likely the least painful of everyone’s horrible ROI. I would bet at least 1-2 of the people spent $40k they couldn’t comfortably afford to lose.

What's crazy is if you gave me 300k to spend in the hobby tonight... That 300k would be close to a million in 3 years. (And that isn't unique to me... It isn't rocket surgeries)

Buddy lost 200k for the "gamble" (had no chances to make anything and the "entertainment" (annoying and obnoxious doesn't even begin to cover it)

Crazy stuff. Hope they had fun?

I'm positive the 320K guy could lose millions still bet millions more.

Flawless is hand-collated, I'd be shocked if they don't know where the big cards are stacked at. We should ask Tracy H j/k.

Speaking of which I didn't know about this million dollar break until they started to break which I think is failure. They could of blown this up by magnitude, they could of have high profile guests, or break at a unique setting. They way they did this in just a hotel room just looks very amateur. I know that they got the idea within a week, but if you were going to a million dollar break, do it with publicity, or have some kind of advertising. I think Shyne (who bought fake Pokemon case) didn't even know until the last few boxes. So many missed opportunity, they could of had.

I mean when you price a 2/box "case" of FOTL at $55,000 it's pretty easy to make it a "Million Dollar" break. It's so stupid. The total paid for all of the spots is 1.2 million. Total cost of the boxes direct from Panini is what....maybe $300,000 (probably much less). That's a nice little $900,000 profit. Sickening

And to think breaking was created primarily so people could afford the few high-end products of the time.

Now it's pricing people out.

The "solution" is perpetuating the problem.

Average of $20k per box of basketball cards. I thought $2k per box was ridiculous not long ago. No peasants allowed!
