Soooooo my biggest fear when sending in a card to get graded has come true.
I sent in a Contenders Optic Cracked Ice Auto Justin Herbert /22 to beckett for grading. I skimped on insurance putting 1k on it and sending it out the door. Beckett receives it on a Wednesday, has it processed and graded by Monday and send back thru fedex next day with 5k insurance. Card goes from Texas to Memphis (main hub) checked in at 11:23pm and is never seen again. I've reached out to FedEx and they state the package probably had the label fall off or something and they don't Hve anything that fits the description. I've reached out to beckett to begin filing the insurance claim. Beckett says 2-3 months to resolve claim. So at this point I just want to put the word out and hope my card turns up somewhere. But if you could please keep your eyes out for my card and let me know if anyone sees it for sale.

That sucks OP. I’ll keep my eyes out for it, helps that it is numbered. That Memphis hub has accounted for quite a few of these stories :/

If you, as an individual, have had 3 packages seemingly.............."disappear"...........from the very same hub in question as the OP, in two short months, that's almost certainly a tell that something much more amiss is going on in Memphis, rather than a label simply not being affixed properly. If I were a betting man, I'd bet my bottom dollar that some s.cumbags are keyed-in on packages that manifest from Beckett Grading Services. ESPECIALLY..............if they're small boxes/packages (eg; probably only 1 or 2 cards inside; most likely higher-valued contents) and are stealing them! |

I am not sure how Fedex works but the USPS auctions the item off. They run monthly auctions in Georgia for any items that get lost in the mail system whether insurance was paid or not.

You would never get the money, and the item. And outside of a high profile case, most insurance companies wouldnt come back to you to trade your item, for their money. They just sell the item to regain some/all of what they paid you. |

It's a scary world out there, and UPS/FedEx are going to have to figure this out. It's pretty clear with the card market boom that more people know what they are seeing when these packages come through. I have to believe that multiple 4 and 5 figure insurance settlements will get their attention.
It's going to have to be registered mail for me and nothing else going forward.

Yeah it’s the most secure. It goes into a lock box and if I’m not mistaken signed off by both parties (postal workers) every time it changes hands Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Much more secure. I realize that USPS has a reputation as well, but registered mail is a different story.

OP, sorry to hear that happened to you. Hope the card turns up.
Does Beckett send their cards back in boxes plastered with Beckett all over the box like PSA does? With the card boom, announcing the package contains graded cards contributes to this kind of problem.

I thought Fedex would only pay $1000 on collectibles. Anybody know for sure?
