Default The Official NBA Regular Season Thread—-21/22 Edition

The offseason has begun. What's happening in 2022?
  • Will Giannis repeat?
  • Will the Warriors bounce back to compete in the west?
  • Is LeQueen done?
  • Do the Denver Chicken Nuggets have enough?
  • Does Brooklyn stay healthy and remain sane?
  • The 76ers lol
  • The Celtics lol
  • Luka and Trae? Who goes further?
  • Does Zion's 3rd coach lead to a playoff appearance?
  • Will Kawhi still the thrown in LA?

So much excite!

I am excited about next season. I think there will be some surprise players who break out, Hope my research pays off. I think the Bucks will continue to be a force for the next few years. LeBron MIGHT have one more run I. Him, but that totally depends on AD and likely another tool for the Lakers.

I want to believe The Claw will leave LA, but less likely and unfortunately will not come to Dallas. He and Butler would make a great combo.

Zion and the Pels need to show progress as does a full strength Grizzlies team.

From a hobby standpoint, the lack of 2020-21 slabs from PSA will drive up the prices of the breakout players that are slabbed, or SGC might just become very relevant for this year rookie class.

Luka and Trae will continue to improve and a full strength ATL will be taken more serious. The Nets are injury prone and unless they are healthy will not make it to the ECF.

It will be fun and I think the hobby correction brings more people into the hobby, but there is one major IF

THE DELTA VARIANT!

  • Is LeKing done? No
  • Do the Denver Chicken Nuggets have enough? No
  • Does Brooklyn stay healthy and remain sane? No
  • The 76ers lol Are better than you think
  • The Celtics lol LOL
  • Luka and Trae? Who goes further? Luka is the real deal. Trae is not even good. He's the worst defensive player I've ever seen.
  • Does Zion's 3rd coach lead to a playoff appearance? That team is a mess. Brandon Ingram and Zion should not be on the same team. Zion is a legit superstar though. If they make the playoffs, it will be entirely because of him.
  • Will Kawhi still the thrown in LA? Kawhi is the most overrated player in the league.

So much excite!

Ding, ding, ding! The hobby is sleeping on SGC slabs right now, especially with basketball. That can't last forever. I've been buying them up like crazy. I even crossed a Lebron rookie SGC 9.5 to a PSA 10 last week... At some point, the price gap will narrow between PSA and SGC.

Booker is the next Donovan Mitchell, not the next Kobe.

It feels like we’re in a stretch with champs switching a lot which I like…the off-season should clarify it a bit but FA/draft is fun regardless

I like new teams versus the same teams every year. Cannot say I watched full games, but Giannis winning by staying is a great story. He deferred to KM in his opinion interview, no “give me my respect” comments. Only own 1 of his cards but glad to have it being as it is his 2016 optic Holo PSA 10.

I’m still waiting for someone to overanalyze Giannis’ 2014 tweet where he said he wasn’t leaving until Milwaukee was a championship level team lol

Can I start the "Giannis for Kuzma" trade rumors?

Curry unhappy demands trade to MKE to play with Giannis.

agree with above.
Booker's game is more similar to Ray Allen, with Ray being a better 3pt shooter.
I will still say Ray Allen is better then Booker

From the Athletic today - Bradley Beal makes no sense at all for the Atlanta Hawks.

If Beal does request a trade, the Sixers, Heat, and Hawks are among the teams that could join the Warriors in the bidding, sources tell Katz. Hughes, meanwhile, suggests that the Warriors, Heat, Celtics, Trail Blazers, Lakers, and Mavericks are some of the clubs that would likely intrigue Beal.
The Thunder have made it known around the NBA that they’d be interested in participating in a Beal trade as a third team, according to Hughes.

Looks like DeRozan is headed out after reading some comments. Would be interesting to see how the Spurs enter this FA period minus a #1 and a lot of money

The player they need is John Collins - unfortunately he's restricted and the Hawks are likely to match anything.

  • Will Giannis repeat? Unless injuries hit all the top teams again, nope (and I like Giannis)
  • Will the Warriors bounce back to compete in the west? They'll compete, depends on Klay's health and who they have if they'll stand a chance
  • Is LeQueen done? Not yet, but he's certainly not the player he once was, nor should anyone expect him to be
  • Do the Denver Chicken Nuggets have enough? If healthy, they have a shot. Jokic/Murray/MPJ is a very nice trio
  • Does Brooklyn stay healthy and remain sane? They probably have the greatest health risk, and none of their top 3 are sane.
  • The 76ers lol Yeah, they might be the greatest disappointment
  • The Celtics lol They're less of a disappointment than the 76ers, just need to be healthy to even have a chance at competing, doubt they'll go anywhere
  • Luka and Trae? Who goes further? Trae has the better team but no one really cares about the Hawks or Mavs
  • Does Zion's 3rd coach lead to a playoff appearance? They need to make some moves
  • Will Kawhi still the thrown in LA? What?
See bold above

For those who don't know - Kawhi is likely out all of next season [might be a 'go' for playoffs though] due to rehabbing his freshly repaired acl... it'll be interesting to see what the Clips do... run it back with PG and pay Reggie to get them into the playoffs in the hopes Kawhi is healthy by then?

Because they're in a big market and Ballmer has plenty of money, I think they do try to run it back and hope for a rested playoff Kawhi.

Whether or not they can bring back Reggie probably depends on whether Ibaka picks up his option or not...

Reggie was really good basically all year, and especially good in the playoffs. If I were the LAC, it would definitely be high on my priority list to keep him.

Really? This kind of stuff used to be thread worthy, now it’s just another Monday. Hope kawhi comes back strong.

Clips cap situation is such that they have little choice but to run it back. They can pay Reggie up to $10M regardless if Ibaka opts-in/out so I expect him back. Batum is the unknown as any contender could use a guy like him.

So you're a warriors fan, right? Added my own quotes.

"Don't break another leg there Steph/Klay"

"Will Luka gain a few more pounds/dog it in the 4th?"

Not sure what to say about Trae yet. Personally, I don't think he's a superstar and I'm hesitant to say star.

I think that's unlikely this year if you watched the Olympic game last night. Those teams were playing at a faster pace than NBA. Probably one reason why the U.S. team is struggling. Luka is the very early favorite again this year for MVP. Last year he came into the season not in ideal conditioning. I don't think that happens again this year with the summer games etc.

I've read that Jason Kidd wants the Mavs to play at a faster pace than they were so that will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
