Perpetual Card Pumpers

With the large amount of money rolling into the "hobby" lately I thought I'd ask how people feel about perpetual card pumpers such as Gary Vee or Vegas Dave? Are these PCPs good or bad for the "hobby" as a whole? Is there a difference in your mind between the cook groups on discord versus the Instagram "influencers" when it comes to PCPs? Is it wrong to pump and dump even if it's not illegal? Are some PCPs better or worse than others or are they all equally bad (or good)?

When someone just dropped $850 on Jalen Hurts Autographs in our shop, they are not motivated by Gary Vee or Vegas Dave. They see what the potential and how much they could make.

Did Vee or Dave pump up another guy which did a trickle down effect? Sure, but people still have to make their own decision to go take a 2nd or 3rd or 4th round QB and pump thousands into them.

Social Media influences everything across society, is is wrong for LeBron to pump Sprite?

None are bad, people just like to have something else to gripe about.

One could even argue that someone like Gary Vee is an overall plus for the "hobby" with the attention he brings.

I personally don’t see anything wrong with it. But for true collectors who aren’t in it for the money, I could see why they may be discouraged.

I think this is great for the hobby though because it brings more and more people into it.

I remember not too long ago people were talking about the hobby dying. Now, I don’t see that happening with all of the talk about investing and money making opportunities that people like those above preach.

People can filter messages to their advantage. Not sure why this comment was deliberately left out....Blowout has lots of great and honest members. This is a rough place and I have learned to ignore the noise and focus on the good side of blowout.

This site is pretty much dedicated to pumping and dumping. Just go look in baseball and basketball too. It happens all the time and won't stop.

One, I don't pump anything. Go look at my posts in the Jimmy thread. I never gave any price points or suggested people buy certain cards (or any cards for that matter.) The only thing I even linked to was Jimmy's shirt on Instagram in case someone wanted to get an autographed card with it. I even pointed out market manipulation on the NT RPAs.
