Default Project 2020

They have a preview, of sorts, up on the website now.

https://www.topps.com/project2020

The plats were given some information on it.

Artists reimagining the 20 most iconic cards in Topps history. Should be available March 17th. Will have a couple of different levels of chase cards. And will be available for only 24 hours.

Added this nice spreadsheet as requested:

Based on the background it looks like the cards will include the following:
1954 Ted Williams
1955 Roberto Clemente
1959 Bob Gibson
1969 Nolan Ryan
1975 George Brett
1980 Rickey Henderson
1982 Traded Cal Ripken
1983 Tony Gwynn
1984 Don Mattingly
1985 Dwight Gooden
1987 Mark McGwire
1989 Traded Ken Griffey Jr
1990 Frank Thomas
1992 Bowman Mariano Rivera
1993 Derek Jeter
2011 Update Mike Trout

Note sure what the other 4 might be, but I would guess 1952 Mantle would be one.

Topps doesn't have Mantle's rights any more. Panini does. So it will not be included.

Something similar to this would have been what I would have offered for the Topps 2020 project, but life has a way of taking you in different directions. I look forward to what the other artists bring to the table.

Default Project 2020

Apart from the Clemente, they’re in reverse alphabetical order - by first name - in each row. (And Clemente is in the right place if he’s “Bob”.)

I’ll guess there are two cards cut off on both ends. So someone before Bob Clemente (Al Kaline?), someone after Tony Gwynn, and two between George Brett and Ken Griffey Jr.

Maybe Al Kaline, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays?

Sounds good. Was hoping for a Cubs player, but sounds like Ernie isn’t in there.

Good catch. Topps showed us some samples which haven't been approved yet, so I don't want to spread misinformation, but there are two players between George and Ken.

These cards are meant to be a premium offering. They are very thick like relic cards. Also in case it wasn't clear, each of the 20 cards is being done by 20 artists, hence Project 2020. It's an interesting concept because you can collect in different ways - all 20 cards from your favorite artist, or all 20 versions of your favorite card.

And no Cubs player, right? Sad trombone...

That sounds like the Montgomery Brooklyn cards. They look and feel great in hand. I’m excited for the P2020 set.

Usually you wait to see the product before taking a flying dump on it. On an efficiency drive in 2020? Productivity is up!

This is an interesting idea.

I'm probably in the rare minority doesn't like art cards but the idea of having 20 renditions of a 69 Ryan from the same series is exciting to me.

I didn't realize that each artist was going to create the artwork for EACH card.
Just thought they were assigned to each card next to their name.

Gonna be fun collecting that 2001 Ichiro!

We'll see how these cards look, but I applaud Topps for trying to bring some of the "hypebeast" sneaker collector types into cards by collaborating with these artists. There's only so many heritage glory days recycling people can take.
