Third and fourth parties are a bad idea. It usually splits the leading party which causes the other one to win.

The same argument can be made the other way around.

Same here.

This is turning out to be a very interesting election. This includes the fact when I first heard Donald Trump was going to run for president I didn't actually think it would last but some how he just keeps on winning. I wonder how this election will be viewed 20, 50+ years from now.

I'll start things off.

Why are we always stuck voting for the lesser of two evils? Do people really have no faith in third or fourth parties? If I tell someone in voting for Gary Johnson they say they would too but it's just throwing their vote away. Really?

I've never seen Libertarians pull more than a single digit percentage of votes, and the most they accomplish is to throw an election. Virginia, for instance, has it's current Dem governor because the Lib candidate pulled enough votes from the Repubs to allow the Dems to win. IMO Hillary presents enough of a threat to the republic to support the Repub candidate. If Libertarians garner enough votes to throw that election then history will judge them.

It's depressing that Republicans have to milk the 2nd Amendment cow so much. The right to own guns will never be taken away. It's like when kids think being under the covers will protect them from monsters.

The monster isn't real.

Is a right on paper worth anything if it is completely untenable in practice?

If nominated, I will not run.
If elected, I will not serve.

(But please elect me anyway.)

I guess that depends on the legal standing of the document. Which, in this regard, seems pretty solid.

I'm reregistering LP on Thursday. I'm waiting only because the local LP organization is doing a party-switching party that day.

Johnson/Weld 2016. Cast a vote you won't have to lie to your kids about.

I could never vote someone for President who breaks Federal law on a daily basis; the same Federal Law that the President is supposed to enforce.

If you use someone else's Netflix password, you are violating federal criminal law.
Every PBM who registers for a new account on BO is committing a federal crime by doing so.

This is a good one, but we weren't talking about Hillary. I believe I was responding to a Gary Johnson post. He admits he smokes pot every day (just won't do it as President if you believe that). This could be why he looks stoned in every interview. I cannot vote someone for President who violates Federal law. How can you enforce it if you violate it was my point. The argument works for Hillary too though.

They're called family accounts. The password is for everyone with a profile on the account. It's not someone else's password when you're on the account.

I agree with the first one and not only do I not have Netflix, but I would never do that.

I'd like you to explain the second one though.

Yeah count me as happy to throw my vote away....

A vote for Hillary or Trump is a vote for Hillary or Trump.
