2024 Leaf Metal Halloween Exclusive

I have an eBay saved search for Kate Beckinsale cards and this popped up a few days ago:



It's from a new 2024 Leaf Metal Halloween Exclusive set that released on October 25. It's a weird set. All autographed cards, all numbered 3 or less, all with some sort of Halloween background, two per box for $200. The signers are a mix of sports and non-sports.

It's a Leaf product so the cards aren't pretty to look at. There are some inscriptions, some dual autos, all stickers. Each signer has two types of cards. Prismatic Foil has Jack-O-Lantern (#/3), Ghosts (#/2), and Cat (1/1). Super Prismatic Gold Foil has Candy Corn (1/1).

The Kate Beckinsale card was listed with a $499.99 BIN and I came very close to buying. It's the first Leaf card with her in costume from one of the Underworld movies. I didn't notice the ghosts in the background at first but once I did, I couldn't not see them. The seller ended the listing and relisted the card as an auction. I'm curious to see what it ends at. It's an ugly card, in my opinion.

The crazy thing is, this set is not the most bizarre Leaf product this year. Search for 2024 Leaf Metal Exotic Mythical on eBay. The cards are even weirder.

Always odd to see the Metal brand on a non-Upper Deck/Skybox set. Even kind of looks like their logo too.

Looks a hell of a lot better than that Leaf ugliness.

I have bought Kate photos from ca for $30-40 on their auctions. She has signed a lot..she at this moment only has a few leaf cards.

If you want a Kate Beckinsale auto card (and I do) it's Leaf or nothing. And most of the cards that get listed on eBay have been graded, so prices are sky high.

Two of her cards from the Leaf Metal Halloween set have sold recently. A Prismatic Foil Jack-O-Lantern (#/3) sold for $200 on 10/31 and her Prismatic Foil Cat (1/1) sold for $375 on 11/1. If I'd seen the $200 card, I may have bought it. It's not quite as bad as the Ghosts card.

The checklist lists 677 cards with each signer having three different foils (Shimless, Crystals, Sparkles). These cards look better than the Halloween cards but it's still Leaf, so they're not great. Non-sports signers I see are Andrew Garfield, Brie Larson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Chevy Chase, Cuba Gooding Jr., Drew Barrymore, Hailee Steinfeld, Josh Gad, Karen Gillan, Kate Beckinsale, Margot Robbie, Mark Wahlberg, Pom Klementieff, Uma Thurman, William Shatner. There's also dual and triple autos, including an Ed O'Neill / Katey Sagal / Christina Applegate triple auto and a Samuel L. Jackson / John Travolta / Uma Thurman triple auto.

I'm keeping an eye out for Kate Beckinsale cards to hit eBay.

Eh, I actually like these, especially the cat ones. In my perfect world, everything would be Halloween-themed.

What I hate are Christmas-themed cards. Red and green are an ugly color combination.

How about a random sports athlete on a ghost card. Part of the quirkiness of Leaf I guess, stuff that doesn’t necessarily make sense.

At least the Linda Blair Exorcist one kind of fits the theme.

Very happy I bought the $200 one. I do assume leaf will have cards of her in pop this year but the image may not be Selene.

Looks like there is another set on eBay that has Beckinsale with the Underworld photo.
IMO looks much better than the Halloween cards.

I'm having a real hard time figuring out how Margot Robbie in a pink dress fits with the military theme. These don't look as bad as the Halloween cards but they're still weird. It looks like there are 17 auto cards for each signer in this set across seven parallels.

Just to bring this back to Kate Beckinsale, I bid on the 1/1 from the Leaf Pro Set Pure Special Edition set on eBay but got outbid. It sold for $664.19. There's a #/3 from the same set listed BIN for $799.99. And it looks like whoever bought the Leaf Metal Halloween Cats 1/1 for $375 has it listed BIN for $1,499.99. Finally, one of her #/4 cards from the Leaf Exotic Military set is currently at $160 with a little over a day left to go.

I'd much rather have one of the Pro Set Pure cards, though. They're the least ugly:

Those military cards look ridiculous. Leaf continues the streak of low effort silliness. I had to pass over so many of the cards for my hockey pc because of the backgrounds. (It was an easy decision.)

But I guess I get what Leaf is trying to do….if you have a bunch of no background pop century sets etc, it all runs together and is the same thing, so this lets them have “different sets” with the same ol batch of stickers they’re unloading.
