Default The Official NBA Draft Thread

I thought that maybe since there are so many threads on the Draft, why not make another one?

This will be the place to discuss all things Draft-Related.

Some burning questions still are unanswered and we're just over 24 hours away from getting those answers.

RUMOR - should I bold it? Again I say RUMOR.

This was just on Sirius NBA Radio - so take it FWIW

Cavs get - 4, 12, Afflalo, Harris, Vucevic

Kings get - Waiters + Future Considerations (probably a future 1st since the Cavs have Miami's) - Kings have supposedly wanted to move their pick

Magic get - #1 & #8

The Cavs. I don't want to look back in 5 years when Parker/Wiggins are tearing up the league knowing we had the shot to get one of them.

I don't disagree.

Eventually you just have too many guys.

So you're trading #1 and Waiters

And bringing in Afflalo, Harris, Vucevic, #4, and #12 - to go along with Kyrie, Bennett, Thompson, Zeller, Jack, Varejao, Delly, Gee...

Where are you going to play them all? Not that a guy like Gee really needs to play - but I'm simply saying that you can't just keep adding players to try and fix things. You need legit starting talent.

Unless you assumed there were other trades in the works as well.

Yep, that's awful crowded. I love Varejao and what he brings to the team but I think this is the year he finally gets traded. His injuries the last few years have really hurt this team.

Awful trade if the Cavs did something like that.

The Cavs are trying to bring in Exum tonight for a last minute workout. Probably due to a possibility of a trade down.

Interesting rumor. That's a lot of talent coming to Cleveland, but as stated, it makes for a pretty crowded team. I'm sure more trades would be in the works.

What do Cavs fans think about trading down for Afflalo, 4, and 12? That's been rumoured (as in tossed around by Chad Ford, plus more).

Twitter has "corrected" the rumor a bit and saying Thompson would also be going to Orlando.

So at the end of the day...

Afflalo + Harris for Waiters + Thompson (all somewhat comparable guys - but Afflalo/Harris is probably better unless you love Waiters)

#4 + #12 + Vucevic for #1

Could this rumor have some additional validity if the Cavs are bring in Exum tonight (supposedly)?

It doesn't make sense to me why they would do this unless they'd take Exum/Embiid at 4. And are using these other pieces like Harris and Vucevic and #12 in a deal for love. Just doesn't click with me. I don't believe it really. But at the end of the day they are still Cleveland so almost nothing makes sense.

It's a good trade for Orlando and the Cavs. Stupid trade for the Kings. Why give up the #8 for Waiters? I'm not a fan of Waiters at all. And how does he fit with all the other pieces Sacramento has?

Who knows if that rumor about the Cavs wanting to bring in Exum for a workout is true. But he might decline the invite too, he is already in Brooklyn and might not want to. Or his agent might be telling him to not.

Why wouldn't it make sense?

If they take Embiid or Exum

Kyrie + Afflalo + Harris + Varejao + Vucevic as your starters with guys like Bennett and the #12 pick off the bench (and of course Embiid at some point)

Kyrie + Exum + Afflalo + Harris + Vucevic with guys like Varejao, Bennett, and the #12 pick off the bench.

I'm not saying I would do it - but it makes sense - All 3 guys (Harris, Vucevic, Afflalo) would fill holes and you could take BPA with #4 and #12 - especially if you want Embiid

The Hawks decisions on draft night will be a head scratcher.

Regardless of how everything plays out, I think this draft will have a major impact on the league. The exact opposite of last draft.

Why are the Cavs trying to overthink it? Take Wiggins.

It doesn't make sense. A (potential) star goes a long way in basketball. It is a much different sport than baseball or football, where stars don't make as large of an impact on a game. Obviously they make large impacts, but no where near basketball. Take LeBron and put him on the worst team, and they are potential contenders. Put Mike Trout on the worst team in baseball, and they are better, but are still bad. Put Peyton Manning on the worst team, they are clearly better, but borderline playoff team.

I've heard that or Cleveland will come to him in Brooklyn I'm guessing.

Where do you guys think the point guards in the draft fall?

Marcus Smart, Dante Exum, Elfrid Payton, Tyler Ennis

Exactly. Or Parker but Parker's being a little bitch anyway.

It's impossible to tell, there should be a good amount of trades. I think Orlando will take Smart at 4 or LA at 7. But both teams could easily trade their picks. I think Payton will go 8 to Sacramento and Exum will go 3 to Philly. Ennis I think the Knicks could come into the later ends of the first and take him or PJ Hairston. Who knows honestly. The NBA is much more difficult to pick than the NFL.

Scratch that Ennis to the Knicks, it looks like they just got Shane Larkin. Tyson and Felton to Dallas. Don't know specifics yet.

That's overly simplistic when comparing Wiggins to Embiid/Exum
