There is still plenty of time in the auction, don’t fret.

However, I have noticed that complete sets never sell for more than what the individual cards would sell for - people like to build tough sets and not necessarily buy them, unless they are going to sell the cards individually.

The experience of building a set is usually more valued by the builder and less by the purchaser. Good luck on the final sale price regardless.

I am personally not a fan of Leland’s, they denied me the opportunity to bid on their items several decades ago, and they will not get a penny from me.

Seems like this is the auction where we should test the theory that all these so called serious 90s set builders have just been pumping their own supply these past few years.

If I had the cash, I would be one to assign a hefty premium on a built set, as I am lazy as f---.

Also I think a completed set has way more resilience to hobby downturn. It may not sell above above the individual card prices, but it will sell. And probably this is why at last resort a couple dealers may get into a mild bidding war, even at Leland. They are also lazy as f---.

Incidentally, this is why I am keeping the Nesmith collection intact. Within a few months, those who started half-assed colleziones and now see he is leader of a winning Pacers squad, will in fact run out of credible merch to buy. Some dealer in the Midwest would probably love a year's worth of AA supply with a fair percentage that might credibly gem.

Keep your spirits high.

If I had invested in Kuminga as my only major holding I would be mentioning him in the context of what I know. Except the case of AA is way more interesting because, 5 years in, his ceiling is still not established.

With Haliburton out, a great young team is the Wild West and about 5-6 player collectors should take note.* Except the National was Shai and crickets chirping apparently, when it came to modern basketball and teams that compete.

My suggestion Box and I say this with respect, you've kept a lot of threads going. Look at Nesmith as an avatar for whoever or whatever you collect. Your profit or passion angle. And then write through that lens. Your points will have more depth, because they will be grounded in a reality that readers readily understand.

Threads you start will credibly gain views and generate discussion. And then you really do have free rein to go off on tangents (knowing that forum members will post disturbing/offensive memes when they go too far).

As for my fourth paragraph, and I feel like I am in my paid writing gig, resubmitting an article obstinately after four different editor rejections, the point is that having a well rounded, one-of-a-kind collection of anything: player, set, card type, is extremely valuable when negotiating. It simplifies things.

I can go to card shop A or regional dealer B or supercollector C, or even the Pacers organization itself, and say, these are the offers I have on the table, do you want a fully stocked larder of prime AA. Whereas with even a gold Prizm rookie they can look at the last sale of $528 and still imagine they will get one at that price if it comes up on the Bay again.

*Unless you're of the 95 percent who see this as a throwaway "gap" year. But honestly, Indy historically plays strong without Haliburton (and he is an important sideline voice).

I don't care of this is a pump thread or not. That is one hell of a collection and you are going to make BANK compared to what you paid for it all. Probably 50-100x

Guy posts up an incredible bit of card history

Nomad posts long-winded self-centred diatribe.

Take your meds before you log on, dude.

Asking for opinions on an auction house you already have active listings on probably seems a bit counterintuitive at this point, imo.

Either way, you're gonna bank. But you really did pick one of the worst if you were looking to maximize your profits. And advertising on here most likely won't aid that much.

Yeah, not sure all six of us who come to this section on occasion will influence the outcome of the auction.

Sorry OP, but best of luck to you still!
